anyone else spit food a lot?

I've developed an odd habit and I'm curious if anyone else is having the same issue. In an effort to eat less soft foods and incorporate more normal foods into my diet, I regularly try various foods. Nothing bad, just regular foods. I'll often try a bite, chew for a while, but then feel compelled to spit the bite out. Sometimes this happens after the first bite goes down fine. Sometimes this happens because I've already had a few bites and suddenly feel incredibly full, so I'm immediately compelled to remove all food from my mouth, viewing area, smelling area, etc. Today, for instance, I tried a thick chicken soup. First bite, good, subsequent bites, spit. Also, sometimes this happens with the spitting thing, but when I'm attempting to eat foods, I occasionally feel some nausea. Almost like a pregnant woman would. The food sounds good to me, but as I take my first bite, I feel kinda icky and spit the food out. This does not happen with soft/bland foods, and seems to happen randomly.

Ive done it a few times. I think its in my mind, I realize, wait - Im no longer hungry - or that one more bite may make me ill. Again, only 4-5 times, but yes, Ive done it! Holly

Something about the texture of some food makes me do that. It scares me that it might hurt my stomach. Meat especially. If a piece wont chew up right i aint swallowing it. Or if I take too big of a bite. It has become like a reflex now. Shannon

I understand like tonight I was eating Bourbon chicken bits. I ate like 5 small bits and then on the last one I realized I wasnt hungry anymore infact I was full. So I went to the trash can and spit it out. I realize I do this more with food I really like I am eating and enjoying it and then wham I am full so out of the mouth it comes, into a napkin, trash , or sink. i figure better out than in that is how I got so big in the first place. I wouldnt feel bad unless you are depriving your body of food all the time and have not gotten your protein in or vitamins then I would say take a few minutes and eat. Keep a chart but get that food or protein shake in. To little food can stall weight loss as well. Amy 390/304/232/185 Before surgery/ day of surgery/ today/ and realistic goal to normal

I think both of you touched on some of my issues- texture, or, while chewing, suddenly realizing I'm full. Glad to know I'm not the only one that does this!
