What is everyone eating these days?
I can eat just about everything I've tried. Only have problems if I don't chew well enough or eat too fast. I have no problem with meats - have had salmon fillets, swordfish, scallops, shrimp, pork tenderloin, chicken breast, ground turkey, ground beef, tuna. Also eating salads - usually baby spinach or broccoli slaw. I use shredded cheese and garbanzo beans for added protein. I like the frozen fruits - it's easy to dish out a small serving and let them thaw. For me it's less waste than eating a partial piece of fruit and tossing the rest. I do occasionally have a half a banana and freeze the remaining slices for use in my protein drinks later. The frozen fruits are great in protein drinks, too.
Haven't tried any breads but have had crackers a few times. Haven't tried raw veggies other than the salad greens and mushrooms, only cooked veggies. Haven't had rice but have had several meals with whole wheat pasta, recommended by my nut.
I have made seafood stuffed zucchini, chicken fajitas, white chicken chili, taco soup (the recipe is posted on OH at least once a week, ), and shrimp stir fry. I like variety and so far, except for the small portions, I don't really feel like I'm on a 'diet'. And that's the way my nut. wants us to think. We've tried dieting and failed. Now we're just eating healthy and in small portions.

Food is getting fun again for me - even though I'm sticking to the things I'm supposed to have - I finally find some enjoyment in it again.
Things that I like and work with my pouch:
Shrimp, fish, pork tenderloin, ground sirloin
Bananas, apples (no peel), watermelon, pineapple, strawberries
Salads (any kind of lettuce, cabbage, carrots) usually with some cheese and nuts added with lo-fat dressing
Corn, green beans, peas, potatoes in most forms
Any kind of cheese, eggs
Small amounts of bread, pasta, tortillas, a few reduced fat crackers, soy nuts, almonds, walnuts, sunflower seeds
Other things I love:
South Beach bars (particularly chocolate peanut butter and cranberry almond)
South Beach Cereal
Pria Low Carb Bars
Dove dark chocolate promises (only ONE/day at the most)
Sugar free popsicles
Healthy Choice chocolate fudge pops
Blue Bunny sugar free ice cream bars
Sugar free hot chocolate mixed with milk
One bite of someone else's dessert
Thin crust pizza with light cheese
Drinks: hot tea, iced tea, water with lemon, individual Crystal Light packets mixed in a bottle of water, Lemonade Light, Limeade Light (no soda - I just don't miss it anymore)
The thing I have the most trouble with is chicken so I've taken that out of my diet for awhile. Hope this gives you some ideas of different things to try!
When you guys make "meals" -- how much is it?
I hear people talk about eating salads and things. To me, a salad is 2 small pieces of lettuce with a dab of dressing. That makes me full.
The only thing that doesn't make me feel stuffed is yogurt, string cheese, and applesauce.
I don't feel like I have "meals" yet. I guess to me a meal would be a about a teaspoon of meat, teaspoon of veggies and a teaspoon of mashed potatoes - and I'd feel stuffed!
I agree! Im so glad to know Im not the only one that hears 'meals' and thinks I should be eating 2 veggies and meat and a roll! Its so weird.
Ill have yogurt for breakfast
Then a string cheese an hour later
Then a little chicken breast or soup
Then some crackers and cheese for snack a few hours later
and then something else...
I feel like Im eating ALL DAY LONG!
Its hard to wrap my noodle [head] lol around eating ONE item, several times a day....
Anyone else do this?
Holly
It's just confusing because when I go in for my doctor visits, one of the things they ask is how often you snack. Well, all my "meals" are snacks. When I get to the point where more than 2 bites is doable for me, maybe I will have meals!
I just worry I'll get in the bad habit of eating lots of little things throughout the day. That is a bad habit and down the road could lead me to gain weight.
