What is everyone eating these days?
I am just now 4 months out. I still eat a lot of soft foods:
yogurt, string cheese, cereal.
I don't eat meat very often, although I've had chicken salad (shreddded chicken, mayo and celery) yesterday and today and it went down fine (finally!) I also love cereal (Kix or Raisin Bran)
What are you guys eating, and how much? What are some sample meals that you have?
i can eat everything, just in very small quantities with very small bites.
Favorite protein sources: Underwood chicken spread, protein bars (my favorite is Zone Perfect Strawberry Yogurt****d coffee with protein powder added, pork, shrimp, scallops, Soup At Hand with unflavored protein added, babybell swiss cheese low fat squares. Creamy, dreamy!
Favorite Snacks: Breyers whole fruit or Philly Swirl Stix Sugar Free popsicles, pork rinds & bbq soy crisps
Favortie things to drink: Grape flavorsplash aquafina, add orange crystal light to 2 cups of milk and stir in 1 scoop of vanilla protein powder. Tastes just like a creamsicle and 36 grams of protein!!!
Hi Everyone.
I had 2 fried eggs and a half of piece of toast so far this morning. I think I can eat more than most and I don't like that feeling. I am trying to watch my calories now that I am able to eat alot more. Unfortunately sugars don't make me dump. I wish now I would never have tried to find that out in the first place.

LC;
I'm on the go for breakfast and lunch, so I eat protein bars or a protein shake for those meals. I actually eat the same thing for breakfast that I did pre-op, but now it takes me a lot longer to eat it. I usually start "breakfast" around 9am and finish around 11am. I start "lunch" around 12:30pm and finish around 2pm.
Dinner's for me depend on if my hubby's in town as he's the cook in our family. When he's in town, we frequently have chicken marinaded in something or crab cakes. I can eat about 2 oz of either of those foods. If he's not in town, I sometimes bake two mozzarella cheese sticks (from the frozen section at the grocery) for dinner. I've also found I can eat one chicken finger with a little ketchup, so that's another option if I'm on my own.
For snacks, I eat soy nuts, almonds or string cheese depending what I'm in the mood for. Occassionally I get a hankering for crackers, so I'll have 2-3 of the Ka****LC Cheese flavored crackers.
I go through phases with beverages, I alternate between plain bottled water, flavored bottled water, and iced tea. I don't specifically limit my iced tea intake, but I don't crave more than 2 each week. If I start craving more, I'll start really watching it, but since it's not in excess, I'm not concerned at this point.
My surgeon doesn't recommend cereal, so I haven't had it post-op. It's not very high in protein and the thought is that eating cereal with milk is the equivalent of drinking while you're eating and the food is possibly going right through the pouch.
Hope this helps.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Yeah- when I have cereal, it's mostly milk, so I figure that is some protein. I had a lot of problems with egg and meats, so I had to go with what worked. However, sunny side up eggs seem to be working now, and since yesterday, chicken is too. (I hadn't tried chicken for a month b/c I'd had so many bad experiences with it before - the though of eating it was just, .... ugh)
I've been able to have a little bit of salad (which I miss!)
I haven't tried tuna lately for the same reason as chicken.
Sometimes I have whole wheat, lowfat crackers with some cheese.
I think pasta tastes disgusting (it was my fave food pre-sugery), but that's fine b/c it has no protein and is nutricionally worthless to me.
I just feel like most of my meals are milk products (cheese, yogurt, cottage cheese, string cheese, etc) which isn't necessarily the best thing.
Oh, I also like beans, and they go down great.
I made split pea soup a few weeks ago but it came back up (Exorcist anyone?), so I haven't had the heart to try it again.
ok..let's see here.. eggs don't go down well for me, so is sometimes have tuna salad for breakfast.. i have 2-3 protein drinks a day...and my favorite protein bar is the "rockin roll peanut".. you can buy it at the "vitamin shoppe".. it tastes like a candy bar.. i can only eat 1/2 at a time! i eat a lot of salmon..chicken is still a problem. i've tried filet mignon.. it's ok..but i eat it very slowly.. salads are good with ranch dressing..and so are cucumbers. i haven't tried anything with sugar(i'm afraid to!).. haven't tried pasta which was my favorite preop food and haven't tried bread.. also wendy's chili (about 1/4 cup) and 1/4 of a baked potato go down well..
I agree with you on the sugar!!! What I don't know won't hurt me!!!!
My favorite meal is using the South Beach wraps that you can find where the Lunchables are. The chicken is soft and if I chew it up good, it goes down and stays down. I've been buying whole wheat flour tortillas and chicken and making my own as well.
For breakfast, I do cottage cheese and SF jello. The jello gives it some flavor. For lunch I have a wrap. And for dinner I like to fix some mashed potatoes and gravy. I make my gravy using Cream of Chicken soup and chicken broth. Then I'll add some chicken. I've been using the rotissere chickens that I can get at the grocery store already cooked. The chicken is soft and easy to chew. I haven't had good luck with beef or eggs, so I try to stay away from them. Baked sweet potatoes are good too. Again, I serve it with chicken.
For snack, I'll have cashews and Crixpix cereal. Also, if I peel an apple, I can eat anywhere from a 1/4 to a 1/2. I bought some Guiltfree chocolate ice cream sundaes last night and even my 8 year old son liked it!
I live off of Crystal Light Peach Tea.
Key for me is soft and slow. Otherwise, it's !
Hey LC. Cheeseburgers were my fav pre op and I couldn't stand the cravings so I figured out how to have one. Get some lean ground beef, premeasure 2 oz, brown it in the frying pan, add a slice of low fat cheese to the top, a little ketchup if you can tolerate it and enjoy. This is one of my favorite things to fix myself.
