voice change

Hello I am 4 months out and my voice has been hoarse for 2 months. I talked with my doc and she thinks it may be acid reflux. What is your idea? Is it normal? I may have to see a ENT for a scope of the vocal cords if prilosec doesn't help. THANK YOU Angel

I am also just now 4 months out and have been terribly hoarse for over 2 months as well. NO clue what it is. I don't think it's acid reflux. I've been waiting for weeks and the soonest appointment I could get in to see an ENT is for April 6th. Hopefully, I'll know more then. I have a constant feeling of a very slight amount of phlegm in my throat at all times. Sometimes when I "clear" my throat, it improves my voice, but at other times I go to speak and no sound comes out. I'm really concerned that something was damaged with me during surgery. My breathing tube was left in far too long.

I had a lot of acid reflux the first 3 months. It has died down to nothing now. Thank goodness! It was pretty bad and I never had it pre-op. The strange things our bodies do! Hugs J

How did you know it was acid reflux? I have no other symptoms. Wouldn't I know if it was acid reflux? Also- I'm wondering if it's tied to throwing up. It gets worse after I yak. And since I haven't thrown up in a while it seems a bit better. Just trying to think of anything it could be for discussion's sake.

I notice that when I am feeling dehydrated (especially in the morning) I'm sounding pretty course. Just a thought.

no - this is all day, every day. Although for some reason it's gotten better lately. I really wonder if it's tied to whether or not I'm throwing up. Maybe the person that started this thread can tell us if she's throwing up a lot. My voice gets worse when I do, and since I haven't been as much lately, I'm wondering if that's why I'm improving. For a while there I was yakking every day.
