Hello everyone, I will be 4months out on the 28th. I have lost 60lbs and am feeling extremely tired all the time. I walk on the tredmill at least 55mins. every other day and go to curves. I take in about 60 grams of protein a day, but I do not take my vitamins like I should. They are called Optisouce. They are these big orange tablets and I just cannot chew them. Does any one have any other vitamin suggestions please?

Lately, I am tired, too. But, I think it is because I am doing too much...sort of making up for lost time!! Also, my bloodwork showed that I am lacking in iron, so I am (carefully) trying to add more of it into my diet via foods and liquid iron. My usual vitamins have been Flintstones Chewable and I take two a day. Maybe I should look into other types of vitamins, too, although every other lab of mine came back fine. I'll look for other suggestions, too. Good luck to you!! *Kam*

Hi Julie Firstly, congratulations on your loss so far. At my 3 month tests, all my labs were A-OK. I take: Centrum Chewables, 2 /day - large & orange but OK Bariatric Advantage Chewable Iron 29mg, 1 /day - passionfruit, yummy Sublingual B12 (2500 ug), 2 /week Calcium citrate (500mg), 3 /day You might also want to look at your protein intake. 60g is a mite low at 4 months out. The recommendation is 1g protein for every kg of weight (9g for every 20 pounds). Raising protein might be tough but it helps with weight loss and consistent energy levels. I usually get in about 85-95+ g per day. Good luck in your weight loss and hope you feel more energy soon! Helen Lap RNY 11/10/05 285/197/150

Hi Julie, First, I'm not a medical professional, but I have had a lot of experience with medical problems, as well as taking care of my parents and daughter (plus my mom and sister both had WLS 13 years ago and I get a lot of advice from them!) Tiredness can stem from many things and calls for some blood tests to help determine the cause. Common causes IN ME have been low iron and hypothyroidism. I was told right from the first informational meeting with my doctor that taking vitamins was going to be a lifelong committment when chosing WLS as a tool to lose weight and get healthy. I doesn't seem to me that you are taking the right multivitamin if you can't chew them and/or they make you sick! BariatricAdvantage.com has vitamins specially made for WLS patients; they came to a seminar I attended and I've tried most of their products. All taste good and are easy to take. I've tried others as well that were small or designed for bariatric surgery patients. The most important thing is to TAKE YOUR VITAMINS!! I just got the results from my blood work back and everything is within normal range, although my iron is at the lower end. You can bet I'm focusing my food choices on iron-rich foods (turkey, shrimp, broccoli) Good luck Julie and I suggest calling your doctor about having blood work done to determine the cause of your tiredness Take care Tammy

Hi Julie, I am 4 months out today. I had my lab's done and the results were great. Every body is different though, so what may work for one person, may not work for another. I would suggest talking to your Dr. about it. I take flintstone complete with iron. 2 tablets in the morning and 2 tablets in the evening. I am using pepcid complete 1 tablet twice a day~ 3hours after my vitamin's. When this bottle of pepcid is gone, I'm supposed to start taking caltrate with D or viactin with D. I felt so tired all the time when I was a couple week out. That's when I doubbled my vitamin intake. I've been full of energy ever since. I hope you feel better soon, and find what works for you. god bless you, Annette

Julie, I take my pills whole.. they have never caused me a problem. I have to get rid of the chewable vitamins at about 2 months post.. I couldn't stand them anymore. I take Central Vite(Rite Aids generic brand) of Multivitamin (Comparable to Centrum) and 2 of the 600mg Calcium with Vit D every day. I also take Walmart's Spring Valley Natural B12, Zinc and Iron. I have a doc appt in two weeks and must get labs done before I go to see if I need any other suppliments. Hope this helps... Jacki K from PA
