The Biggest Loser...
I was watching the NBC show "The Biggest Loser" last night and it featured 4 Navy wives vs. 4 Marine wives. One of the Navy wives had WLS 9 years ago and is now back up to 241 pounds! I'd like to know her whole story, but it does show that WLS is just a tool (and a great one) that allows us to work on our eating/exercising habits for awhile. But after that initial "honeymoon" phase, it will be 90% up to us again!! So get on those exercise routines, and practice good eating habits now! I know I don't want to put the weight back on in 5 years, I've worked too hard to come this far.

Dear Dana,
I saw that show as well. I did have some concerns as they kept linking WLS with "quick fix" and not making your point that it is really just the start of a long process of behavioral changes. I am learning that a lot of the support programs now in place weren't even a few years ago. So she may not have had the nutritionist, physical therapist, behaviorist, and support groups that are part of my program. That must be very discouraging and I wish her the best.
