Dear Lisa, I think it is great you want to start good habits now. I think any diet that focuses on paying attention to nutrition and quantity will be a great start. Weaning yourself off fast-food and onto healthy food is really the key thing. (And exercise!****ep a food diary and that really helps. As for hospital attire, I took a comfy, front-open robe so I didn't have to pull anything over my head. You'll want some slippers that are comfortable to walk in yet soft enough to keep on your feet in bed if you want. And loose clothing for leaving. At home I had sugar free popsicles, malt o' meal, cream soups, and crystal light. And some refried beans. Hope this helps and good luck, Sally

Hi Lisa!!! Congrats on your surgery date!!!!! It will be here sooner than you think!!! I LOVED SugarFree Popsicles after surgery.............the brand name "Popsicles" makes a large variety of flavors.......I ate ALOT of sugar free jello and pudding.........also cream soups, broccli, cream of potatoe etc I have heard that Isopure Zero Carbs in creamy Vanilla is a great shake to have........ If you look at the post I posted regarding great WLS books, both of those books give some great advice regarding before surg and what to eat after surg....they really helped me!!!! For the hospital I loved my big old grey cardigan sweater, slippers, magazines, chapstick and my hair conditioner!!! Please ask us anything we are here for you!!! xoxoxox Bethany 266/204/???

lisa, i also took a notepad to write down any notes i had from the hospital or keep track of nurses names. i also took chapstick for my dry lips and a camara to capture all the '1st's'' like 1st meal and 1st walk i wore something that didnt have a waistband in case it would bother me after surgery. ( i wore a large dress to and home) dont worry bout soap or shampoo cause my hospital made me use theirs when i got a shower. i also think its a good idea to start weaning urself off fast food. it could only help with ur health and weight loss. exercise is always good too. lisa -50 lbs -60.5 inches

Lisa; Other things to consider taking to the hospital: 1. Hat or pony tail holders. My hair is short, so I went with a hat so I didn't look quite as disheveled when I went for my walks around the nurses station. 2. Pillow. The hospital will have pillows on your bed, but it's nice to have an extra to brace against if you have to cough or sneeze. Also, it's great to hold onto during the drive home for bumps in the road. 3. I had a Laproscopic RNY and one of my incisions was right where my bra hits between my breasts. I wore camisoles with a built-in shelf bra for the first three weeks post-op. I didn't know this going in and had to go home from the hospital braless. In terms of eating hints, start practicing taking bites no larger than a grape and chewing each bite 30 times. These things will need to become second nature post-op. Also, if you can start trying to eat slower now, that's another post-op requirement. Congrats on getting your date! Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 196 / ???

Lisa; A sports bra would probably be ok as long as the elastic in it isn't too tight or you adjust it so the elastic isn't right on your incision. That's why I liked the camis with built in bra, the elastic fit but wasn't restrictive and I could move it above or below my incision. Blessings, Jennifer

Great Advice here! Only thing I'd add is start increasing your fluids... water, crystal lite or another brand of sugar free drink mix, anything that is sugar free and has no carbonation. Best Wishes Tammy
