I had a mild dumping experience the other day when I ate too many red grapes...............but I can eat tons of strawberries and blueberries no problem I love oranges too!!! Anyone else having success with fruit? I am also totally addicted to sushi and sashimi (thin slices of raw fish) they go down soooooooooo well and give me energy right after eating!!! Its been amazing!!! Is there anyone else out there loving sushi?? If any of you are having trouble eating your protein and your not afraid to try new things, I highly reccomend Sushi!!! Bethany

Bethany; So far I've only tried strawberries, but I haven't had any problem. I've not had sushi post-op. I've always liked sushi, but I didn't like the texture when I was chewing, so I would chew it very little, and I know that won't work post-op, so I've stayed away so far. I've been eating a lot of crab and getting tons of energy from that. It sounds like you're doing great! Keep it up. Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 200 / ???

I'm loving it, too. I just finished a clementine. I had never eaten one before and it was wonderful. I've been eating an apple a day, trying to stay regular. I think fruit tastes better to me now than it did before surgery. No sushi for me! I lived on Okinawa from the age of 9 to 11 and we had to go to a potluck at my dad's church every month. All the Okinawan women brought gorgeous looking little cakes but when you would bite into them they were rice, raw fish, and seaweed. To be polite we had to try some of everything and I've never gotten over it. Didi

I've had apples and bananas. I became nauseous and sweaty immediately after eating strawberries, so I won't be doing that again! Christine

I haven't experimented an awful lot with fruits, but I do have a few slices of apple (without the skin) a few times a week. And, I have had 1/2 of a banana on occasion. I do like eating cherry tomatoes, though (with the skin). And, I have eaten very small amounts of other fresh veges, too, with no ill effects. Guess I should start to push myself, into eating more fruits and veges....especially salads. Have not tried lettuce, yet, although my nutritionist did give me the okay to have it. May try it soon. I do miss salads, but I also doubt they will taste the same as they did pre-op......not much does taste the same to me, except cheese and chili. Love my cheese and chili!!! *Kam* *Kam*

I actually had my first taste of fresh fruit today, apples and strawberries, and LOVED IT! I have been craving fruit and salad lately, so I made sure I had some. It really helped my sweet tooth! The other "pleasure" I've been having are nonfat decaf lattes from Starbucks. I have become hooked on those! At least it's not chocolate, right?? --Dana

Yes, I am eating 3 1-inch chunks of watermelon right now, and I have successfully tried strawberries. My big problem is that I still can hardly fit much of anything in after getting my protein and starch in - so I am content if I can just get two 1 inch pieces in - tastes so good! I tried pineapple, but couldn't chew it well enough, spit it out. I tried part of an apple(no skin) 2 days ago. I put some peanut butter on it yummy. Today I had my first taste of an orange. Just 1 segement, But it was so good! I've had bananas since I was 2 weeks out mashed very well, or put in the blender with my protein shakes. I tried a strawberry, but didn't do very well with it. God bless, Annette

I have been eating fruit for at least 4 weeks now. I eat apples, oranges, pineapple, cantelope, honeydew, grapes, watermelon, strawberries, etc. with no problems. I eat my fruit with the skin. I have not had any food intolerances.
