Can you post your vitamin regimans?
Hi
I am currently taking 2 Childrens mulit-vitamins, 2 tums for calcium, Ferrosequels (iron) 50 mg, and B complex once a week under the tounge.
I am going to switch to Optisource but was confused onto which ones I will not need anymore. I know people have different vitamins. Can you please post what you take.
Thank you
Angel
Hi Angel,
I'm taking a pre-natal multivitamin (mostly for the folic acid), B complex, 500 mg of calcium citronate (although my dr wants 1000, but that's 4 huge pills and I can only seem to get 2 in on most days, and it can't be calcium carbonate), iron, and gall bladder meds for 6 months. My doctor said it was ok to take pills as of 2 weeks post-op, so that's what I've been doing. The pills were really hard at first, but now they go down mostly OK. I can only take one at a time and I spread them out over the morning.
Hope that helps!

Hi Angel,
I am taking Bariatric Advantage vitamins--formulated especially for bariatric surgery patients. I take the cinnamon flavored chewable calcium in the morning--I spread out 1000 mgs over a four hour period for maximum absorption. At noon I take 2 multivitamins--citrus flavored, I use them like a dessert to my lunch. At bedtime I alternate either a chewable strawberry flavored iron or a sublingual B-12. My vitamins are ordered online and arrive at my door each month. They are 50.00 a month, my most expensive post-op indulgence. They taste good, I know I'm getting the blend I need and I'm very satisfied with my regimine.
I know it's important to have protein when you take your supplements. I know also that you need to spread the calcium out a little--you can only absorp 500 mg at a time.
Hope my info helps you a little.
Best wishes,
Sandi h.
I take a Flintstones multivitimin plus iron when I first get up and when I get home around 5:00 p.m. I also take a B12 sublingual in the morning. Then during the day I take 3 Citracal (calcium plus vit. D) at 9:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m., and 9 p.m. This way there are four hours between pills and no conflict between the ironand the calcium. I cut my calcium pill in half for easier digestion.
I feel like an old lady now with my pill box and regimen, but I want to be a healthy old lady!
I also take a stool softener every night and haven't had any problems there!

Hi Angel. I take Rite Aid's Central Multi vitamin and Ferrous (Iron) from Walmart after a bite of food or two in the am. After I am done eating my breakfast, and have waited for the 30 min +, I take my regular meds and a Zinc suppliment(Walmart). Later in the day I take two Rite Aid Calcuim (600mg) + vitamin D and a B12 (Walmart) suppliment. At bedtime, I take my regular meds and usually have a small snack of protein. Hope this helps. I do know that your doc should also do some labs to check to see if there are any specific deficiencies that you have. Jacki K from PA
I take two Optisource in the morning with a Bariatric Advantage iron chewable and then two more Optisource in the afternoon. Once monthly, I take B12 via intramuscular injection.
My first post-op blood work is scheduled for 2/16, so we'll find out if this regimen is enough then.
Blessings,
Jennifer

I take the vista vitamin from bariatriceating.com. They are specialy formulated for people who've had wls. I take 5 of those a day. their not the best tasting but at least I'm getting in all of my vitamins. For calcium I got the liquid calcium from that site also only 1 Tbs a day for 1200mgs of calcium citrate and it tastes like orange.
Most of my vitamins and minerals are liquid. In my evening shake, I mix in the following:
1. Miracle 2000 (liquid multivitamin)
2. B-Complex (liquid) - mostly to get extra B1-thiamine
3. Calcium Magnesium (liquid citrate)
4. Omega 3 (Coramega pudding consistency)
During the day I take:
5. 2 fast absorbing chewable iron pills
6. 2 sublingual B-12s
I drink 2 protein shakes, 1 in the morning and 1 at night, 30 grams protein each.
