Hello Lisa
I average between 500-800 a day (also use fitday.com) and the most calories i've had since surgery is 900. I have a suggestion for your protein dillemma: Have you ever tried unflavored protein?? Designer Whey, AnyWhey and Unjury all make really good ones. Just put a scoop in your mayonnaise before making a chicken/ham/tuna salad, throwing one in your soup, pudding, yogurt, cottage cheese, beverages.... you really can't taste it at all, and adds a whopping 20 extra grams of protein! Since i've been doing that, I usually get in at least 70 grams a day. Another thing i've been doing is adding vanilla protein powder (I really like body fortress from Walmart and it's only $11 for a huge cannister!) to my orange sunrise crystal light. It tastes just like a creamsicle, and has 20 grams of protein. If you can handle OJ, it's even better with that! Also adding chocolate protein to my iced coffee is really yummy. I think if you start adding protein powders to things you already eat/drink, you'll find it much easier to get in your required amt of protein, and increase your caloric intake. Also, keep that body moving!!! Take a walk, do laps at a public indoor pool, buy exercise tapes... Even just 30 minutes of exercise 4x a week will make a substancial difference come weigh-in day. Good luck, Lisa!!! You're doing great!

60 days, -50 lbs!
Yeah Lisa,
I use fitday too, average about 600-800 a day, 70 grams protein. My counts were low too as long as I was just having protein drinks. Once I started adding protein food like chicken and shrimp and beef the calories went up, started feeling like my old self again, and the pounds did start coming off more evenly each week. It hasn't been easy to learn to eat real food again, but it is worth the effort.
In my post op materials, my surgeon included a table of our average intakes. It says that during the first year (or time of losing weight) we're supposed to get minimum 70 gms protein, between 600-800 calories (no more than 40g carbs or 30gs fat) and of course the 8 glasses of water. By the time we lose the weight we'll be up to 800-1000 calories, 70-90 grams protein per day, same count on carbs/fa****er. And of course 45-60 minutes of aerobic exercise 6 days per week.
By the way, I wanted to chime in with the vote for unflavored protein powder. I use the On Any Whey powder (avail. at GNC) and I love it... 3 scoop=51 gs protein. I mix it in a drink at bfast; then it's easy to get the rest of the protein from a couple of oz of meat...
Hope this helps, good luck.
