What is your favorite protein drink and protein bar? I am 8 weeks out and running out of protein. I need to buy some new stuff, but wanted some opinions about what is out there. Please weigh in on this discussion! Thanks, Carla

For a protien shake I've been blending a scoop of AnyWhey with Dannon low carb yogurt smoothies. I keep a couple of Detour bars in my swim bag because sometimes when I get out of the water I just can't move and my dr. suggested a protein bar for those times. Didi

I recently tried a sample of Elite Chocolate Mint protein and it was the best. It tasted like a girl scout Thin Mint cookie. As far as protein bars I'm not impressed with any I've tried so I'll be reading and seeing what others have tried to get some ideas myself. Take care, Anita

Immediately post-op I used ISOPURE...it was a God send. Now I use Whey protein powder and mix it in my oatmeal, yogurt, and favorite drinks. I tried a few protein bars but my doctor doesn't recommed them (he said they are difficult for us to digest). I find that between my food, milk (yes I can drink milk with no problem), and using the whey in foods and drinks I get between 60-80 grams everyday. Tanya

ok I am using IDS vanilla cinnamon. I use it by itself or I have taken a 1 inch piece of fruit like banana or mango or even a few blackberries and I add it to the shake. I also love the cocoa mochachino. I got both of min from vitalady. As for bars sorry I tried to bit one last night adn it was just to heavy for me right now so no suggestions as of yet. Also look to sugar free syrups for flavor. The cocoa I use coffe ho****er and SF hazelnut it is great. I feel like I just stopped at the coffee stand.

For protein shake, I like the Protein Delight fruity flavors mixed with milk and s/f ice cream or milk and yogurt or water and fruit. For protein bars, I like the Power Crunch Bars, especially the toffee chocolate chip! But my favorite way to get my protein in is the Profect brand drink. It's not a shake, it's a fruity drink and is made to drink full strength. I mix it with cold water b/c it's a bit syrupy straight. Mixed half and half with water it tastes like fruit juice. PLUS, it's only 2.9 oz., so even mixing it you have less than 6 oz. to drink rather than 8 to 12 oz. of thick shakes. It's definitely the quickest way to down your protein--25g per 2.9 oz!

I like the chocolate mint stuff too...it DOES taste like a thin mint...YUM! I used it as a treat when I had cravings, which actually isn't often anymore thank goodness! I've also had the vanilla cinnamon (I forget what brand) but that was good as a hot drink also. For my daily protein I use Designer Whey in chocolate and vanilla with milk. I get a bulk size box at WalMart for around $20 and even having 1-2 shakes a day, this box lasts for months. I just started using the vanilla with SF Tang, and it tastes like a creamsicle if I add some ice. I don't tolerate protein bars very well, they feel "heavy" and I only usually can get 1/4 of one in anyway before I feel overly full and yucky. I've only tried 2 or 3, but that was enough for me. I get my protein with my shakes and foods instead. Good luck! Christine

I have used ProComplex for the last 3 years. Choc, Strw, Vnla. Making the vanilla with crystal lite orange sunrise is fabulous. 1/2 banana with the choc is great and just plain strawberry is delicious. I've recently started unjury unflavored just to add protein to each meal without getting the sweetness. I haven't tried any bars yet so will watch all the posts. Shar

Hi Carla. My favorite is Unjury, chocolate, vanilla, and unflavored that I add to anything and everything. When I crave a fruity drink, I like Isopure Zero Carb in pineapple-orange-banana or strawberry creme. Kathy
