Hello Everyone! This is my first time on the Novembster board. How terrific! I find that steak and hamburger and sausage do pretty well for me. The nuked pepperoni is good. My real favorite is any cheese...but try this...fry it! that is write, get a teflon pan, spray PAM, then put in cheddar cheese. I either use the shredded or slice some from a bar. right in the pan. it is yummy, salty and goes down good. You can even brown it a little. btw: started at 258 on 11/2, now down to 210! Christmas was tough!

was told I couldn't have steak or sausage. Doc choice I guess. But I just started melting my cheese in the microwave. Will have to try this soon!

Welcome Veronica Although we are all November, it will be a few months before we are all on the same "page" as far as eating. My doctor also does not allow any meat at this stage, only very moist fish. Fortunately, I love fish! Of course cheese is fine and I'm going to try your cheese suggestion! I'm also waiting for fresh fruits and veggies to be added! Possibly when I go back to the surgeon next Monday! Have a great day Tammy 301/268 (as of 12/30)/150ish weight at WLS/last weigh-in/goal

Hi Tammy, Welcome to the November board. You mentioned that you like fish and are able to eat it easy. Could you please tell me how you cook it and also what kind of fish you like to cook. I'm just an Arizona gal who's mother never taught her how to make any kind of fish...oh, except for fish-sticks haha! Hugs, Virginia aka Ginger

Hi Ginger, First and foremost, with fish you don't want to overcook it! It becomes dry and tastless! Also, your fresh fish should not SMELL fishy. If it does, it's not fresh. My favorite way to buy fish is in the freezer section of Costco. They sell bags of individually frozen fillets. My newest favorite way (easy) to make Talipia is using Steele's Sesame Ginger marinade/dressing which I purchased on the BariatricEating.com website. It is terrific!!! I just put a fillet on a plate and drizzle a little of the marinade on both sides, enough to cover. Let it sit (5 minutes to 1/2 hour) in the fridge, then grill, broil or saute in pan with Pam (no fat) about 2-3 minutes per side. Just enough for the fish to be flakey. Very light tasting. Each fillet is usually 4 oz and I eat 1/2 at a time. To warm up the other half, sprinkle a little more marinade on it and place, covered, in the microwave, for no more than 20 seconds. Yummm If you like salmon, try buying the fillets vs steaks. They are much easier to cook, I think, and they don't have the brown flesh, which grosses me out. My daughter's favorite way to cook salmon is to season with Emeril's Essence, although a mixture of Old Bay seasoning, garlic powder, salt & pepper also works nice. Same cooking methods, grill, broil, or saute in pan, except if using pan, you'll need a little fat (I like to use 1 teaspoon of olive oil and 1 teaspoon of margerine.) Salmon is more dense than talipia, so you'll probably need 3-5 minutes per side for cooking. Again, just until the fish is flakey. Also, if you are grilling your fish, I suggest you use a grill basket or spray your grill with Pam to keep the fish from sticking. I tend to like recipes with few ingredients. The sesame ginger marinade would probably be good on just about any type of fish as well as chicken. Good luck and let me know how it comes out. Tammy

Flounder and Tilapia are both great. If you want to eat out, Red Lobster has a good roast tilapia in a bag. It is a bit spicy but delicious. Their Flounder filet is good as well.

Hello Veronica! I had surgery a few days before you. I love the pepperoni thing too. I will try the fried cheese for a snack today--sounds yummy! Have you tried the Adell's apple sausage? It is funny that I have no problem with sausage but chicken or more than a bit or so of beef just sit in my pouch like cement. Welcome, Welcome Pam J.
