Diane,
One thing I've learned from the OH message boards is that everyone is different! You and I had surgery on the same date, 11/29, whereas some others here had their surgery at the beginning of November... almost a month ahead.
As of 12/30, 4 week check-up, I'd lost 28 pounds officially (33 pounds unofficially because they didn't weigh me the day of surgery.) I can't really exercise yet either because of my right arm being dislocated sometime during surgery and the resulting damage to my shoulder. I start physical therapy on that today and hope to be moving around more. I think it's a little harder for those of us having surgery during the winter months because we can't go out for a walk like those that had surgery in spring of summer.
Just keep you eye on the end result and follow what your doctor says. I know you will be a success... and remember, WLS is a TOOL.
Happy New Year,
Tammy
Diane;
Don't be so hard on yourself. Your BMI is much lower than some of the other folks that responded before you, so I'm assuming you didn't have as much weight to lose as some of the others. Have you had a follow up with your surgeon? If not, you should make an appointment to discuss your concerns.
Best,
Jennifer
Hi Paula,
My RNY was Nov 7. At 8 weeks out I've lost 59 lbs. What a ride we're on, eh ? I also feel as tho I'm going so slow ... the stalls are the pits= so un- nerving & it gets discouraging but we must be ready to face it all - no matter what - I'm going thru a bit of a tough patch . I've got blood clots in both legs so I can't excercise at all and even walking or standing is limited - am supposed to remain quiet and keep my legs elevated as much as possible while the drugs work to dissolve them . But look out when I can be up and about again ! I plan to get Mooooving and help the weight loss process as best as I can . Have any of you been having the metallic taste in your mouth - from the Ketones being formed? (Ketones occur from fat being burned instead of carbohydrates for fuel/energy) That has got to be one of the worst side effects of rapid weight loss ! I swear ...lol
My BMI pre-op was 57.3 now it's 46.8

Hey there, I had my surgery on November 16th and so far down 40 pounds since the 2 week prior liquid diet started. I feel as though I am stuck in sloooooooo mo also. I know that every one is different but, I am really getting the blues. My husband had the surgery on October 18th and has already lost 75 pounds. (I am so proud of him). I joined a gym this past weekend, I know this will help - but sometimes I get a little depressed about the whole situation. Every one keep up the great work. I know in time I'll be where I want to be also.
Hi Paula,
I had surgery on Nov 16th and have lost 32 lbs so far. I think that I'm a slow loser. I thought I'd be much farther by now, but the one thing I keep in mind is that I gained before surgery and they didn't weigh me on surgery day but 2 weeks prior, so maybe I was higher on surgery day and didn't know it.
