I'm a couple of weeks behind you and haven't started meat yet. Friday I go for my next check-up (4+ weeks post-op) so I expect to have more added. This week I tried making egg salad (went well, although I'm not a huge egg lover) and I also tried reduced fat wheat thins. I chewed them to pulp before swallowing and all went well. I've had them twice since and no problems. They are smaller than regular wheat thins but taste yummy. Haven't eaten any other bread yet either. Mashed potatoes and well-cooked noodles, both with reduced fat cheese. Cottage cheese, yogurt, blah blah blah... yeah I'm bored with my diet and ready for more variety! Tammy 296/274/140

I had surgery on the 16th. I am now on the trial and error phase. My doc said I can eat anything I want to try. I have had a few days where things didn't sit well but I was also catching a cold. Anyway, this week I have eaten pizza, chicken tenders, sausage and peppers, breaded fish and doritos. All stayed down just fine. Not even a little pain. Today I had some cold cereal with milk so far. I tried the bad foods and am now going back to being good. I hope. !!

Tuesday was 4 weeks since surgery for me and I am down 27lbs. I have been trying various foods including: Squash casserole, green bean casserole, hash brown casserole (all Christmas dishes- only ate a couple of spoonfuls), salmon, tuna salad, chicken salad, deli ham, taco meat with sour cream and cheese and salsa, veggie soup, ham and cheese, garlic toast (only 1/4 a slice), cottage cheese, cheddar cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy (gave me gas- won't do that again for a long time), baked potato with sour cream/cheese/salsa, softened baked chicken, watermelon, cantaloupe, butter beans, peas, etc. Everything I have tried has gone down so easy. The potatoes gave me some gas pain and I hate feeling uncomfortable, so I haven't touched them lately. Everything else I pulverize with my teeth until it is mush before I swallow. I eat very small bites, and chew, chew, chew... My husband watches me like a hawk so I am very careful I am only eating 1 meal a day right now. I have 2 protein shakes a day and 2 snacks. I feel great, but sometimes I am a little tired, other times I am freezing ro burning up. I think my body is adjusting to all the change. I have been so lucky not to throw up once. I have only dumped once and it was such a minor episode, most people probably wouldn't count it. I hope you can find some more things that agree with you. Just go slow and remember, you have a lifetime to try new things... Carla

Hi Everyone, I am in the trial and error phase. I eat egg beaters (the ones with veggies in are yummy!), chicken, hamburger, ham, turkey (made me VERY full very fast and of course tired), tuna, green beans, cheese, chili, soups, applesauce, pear sauce, peanut butter, cottage cheese and very limited (but much enjoyed) potatoes, pasta, pretzels or crackers w/cheese, and oatmeal. I can tolerate SF pickles (for my tuna and burgers) and most SF foods on a very limited basis...I get horrible diarrhea from too many sweetners I have learned. I did enjoy a SF Milano cookie with a tsp. of SF ice cream for dessert on the holiday. I have also been fortunate to be able to eat out successfully a few times...chinese a few times and quesadillas (minus the top tortilla) also. I do notice that potatoes make me feel tired after I eat and brussel sprouts and strawberries do not sit well with me at all. I count my blessings that I have not "re-visited" any foods yet. I know I'm lucky in that aspect. Happy New Year everyone! Christine 257/232 (20% of my excess weight is gone! Wahoo!
