HI, all! I'm 4 weeks out tomorrow (surgery Nov. 14th) and have lost 40 lbs. today Yeah! I started my walking at 2 weeks post-op with surgeon's approval. Slowly, he cautioned. Well, I went slow, but I went way too long. I walked the first day completely around my cul-de-sac. Just from my door, around the street and back in. Took about 5 minutes. The second day, I walked out my cul-de-sac and down to the stop sign (about 1/10 a mile) and back. It took about 10 min. The third day, I had a pain in my groin that felt like I was going to die!!! It radiated down my leg and up into my butt. Hurt like...well, you know... I found out yesterday that I have a pulled muscle in my groin and I cannot walk for more than 2 minutes at a time now for the next 4 weeks. UGH! He told me b/c I've been so large and immobile for so long that I have to go WAY slower than I did. I have to go out for 2 min. and back, then add 2 minutes to that after a week of getting my body used to that. I feel like an old lady now, but he's right. I did try to just jump out and go and it is costing me big time! So here I SIT, during this first few months when I should be able to lose massive amounts of weight and I can't help it along with walking. I'm still losing about 10 lbs. a week, which is nothing to scoff at so I'm not too upset. But I'm sure getting tired of my recliner! (Never would have uttered those words pre-op!) So, be careful out there!

Thank you for your story and advice, I didn't think much about the walking causing us to pull something. I was doing a mile a day even though I'd be exhausted!
