Restaurant Recommendations???

I would really like to meet my friends out in a restaurant, but I don't know which places to try. Any suggestions? I am not quite 3 weeks out, and I am in the "soft foods" stage. I did go to Applebee's, and I managed to eat (gum) one Chicken Melt Tortilla from their WW menu (minus the tortilla). It tasted great, and went down fine. The other three tortillas came home with me in a take-out box. Anyway, thanks for any info you can give me!!!! *Kam*

Hi Kam, We used to live in north eastern North Carolina and would go shopping in Norfolk. You are in a hard part of the country for eating right now. What I remember most was all the fried foods and barbecue and the veggies all swimming in bacon grease. When we lived there there weren't any good Mexican restaurants and what I've found worked best for me is a Mexican restaurant that has really good refried beans. I was able to start soft foods this week and had a half a cheese enchilada and some guacamole at that restaurant when I met friends there for lunch. Last week we took our son out for his *gasp* 30th birthday and went to Texas Roadhouse where I was able to order a side of mashed potatoes. Texas Roadhouse is a chain but I don't know if it is in the Norfolk area. Good luck, Didi

During my soft food phase (which ends tomorrow) I would just get whatever soup was on the menu. I also once had the spinach and artichoke cheese nachos and just ate the dip. It was sooo yummy!!!

Thanks for your reply. I checked the nutritional info on some soups at The Atlanta Bread Co and at Panera's, and most were way too high in fat & sugar for me. So, I guess I am now scared of trying almost anything in restaurants, unless I am fairly certain that I won't dump from it. Now, re the spinach & artichoke dip, I think THAT might just be worth a dump (just kidding!!)!! And, wouldn't that dip be made with regular sour cream and/or cheeses? Are those okay for us? Anyway, I suppose that once I enter (and you, too, tomorrow!!) that next stage, it might become a bit easier to eat out. Good luck to you, and congratulations on your weight loss, so far!! *Kam*
