I had the best Dr. and hospital!!!( Dr. John Huse and Carmel St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis IN. ) I had my RNY Lap on Fri. morning Nov.11 and went home Sat. evening. I have felt great and am doing fine. I find it hard to get all the protein in but I keep on trying.

So glad to hear that you are doing so well!! A great doctor and a good hospital experience makes a huge difference!! Something that helps me get all my protein in is unflavored Unjury. I add it to anything......Carnation Instant Breakfast, broths, creamed soups, whatever.....and it gives me 20gr of protein plus whatever protein is in the actual food. Without it, I know I'd be having trouble at this early stage. I ordered mine from Susan Maria Leach's bariatric site. Hope this helps. *Kam*

WOW!!! Keep up the good recovery!!! We will be having a clothing exchange in Mooresville IN in January... Keep an eye on the Indiana Board.. it is a great place to meet local Indy people and get some good clothes for transition!!! Linda

Kuddos!!! Your very lucky with your doc and hospital!! My doc is great...hosp was lousy (being nice). Having trouble with the protein too. What I liked before surgery tastes yucky now. Is everything too sweet to you? That's my major complaint. Kuddos again! Starla

Gee Starla, Sorry about the lousy hospital. Same here for everything being too sweet. I cannot abide apple sauce and Crystal light makes me gag. However, lemonade and grape kool aid made with Splenda does me good. The sugar free popsicles are essential to my daily happiness. I dream about salads, french fries, onion rings, Whataburgers, spicy Church's Fried Chicken, genuine Korean noodles. But I actually eat sardines, cheese, fat free - sugar free yogurt, canned fruits pureed and mixed in my protein shakes, oatmeal, butter beans, blackeyed peas. I have discovered "True Lemon" a crystallized lemon substitute. It is wonderful and easily mixed in a bottle of water to keep the water from laying on your stomach like a ton of bricks. Its the first manufactured food product I have found that doesn't have corn product in it. That daily protein intake figure isn't arbitrarily set. There is excellent reason to insure that you do take in that much protein daily. Your body needs it to heal you completely after the surgery and to keep your body working to loose the weight. Take Care Of You now that you've come this far.
