I'm 2 weeks post op and lovin life. I'm down 20 lbs already!! The only complications were a bout with thrush and one of my wounds got infected. But I feel great and the pain was not even near what I was expecting.

Hi Nichole I had surgery the sameday you did. I am only about 15. Is the 20lbs you lost since the day of surgery or before, during your preop diet? What are you eating? Do you have much energy? I don't. I am in need of some help in that area. Thanks, Anna

I am 3 weeks post op and down 24 lbs. I feel stronger every day, though I was pretty tired the first couple of weeks. Start back to work tomorrow, so may be really tired after that! Susann

The 20lbs is from the surgery date. Im on the puree foods right now. I'm just pretty much experimenting. Nothing has really upset my stomach yet except the vitamins but I found some sugar free ones and I'm doing good now. I had some turkey w/ gravy and chicken broth, tomato and cucmber w/ olive oil and balsamic vinager, mashed potatos, cream of wheat, and oatmeal. I had french onion soup too. I'm going to try teryiaki chicken tonight I hope that goes ok. Sugar Free Jello and pudding are good to. The only thing I'm having a real problem with are the protein shakes. If anyone has any suggestions on good ones or ones that are tolerable I have yet to finish a full one.

Hi Nichole, Just wanted to tell you about a protein product I think you might like. It's called Z-Pro 25 by R-Kane. Comes in chocolate and vanilla. My dietician told me that the chocolate was very popular, so I got a box. It's about $4 a serving, but 25 grams of protein in 2 or 3 oz! And it actually tasted GOOD to me! I think, I may just use it as my "insurance" forever, I liked it that much. You can make it like pudding or like a shake. Thicker it's almost like a light mousse... It's whey protein, so I don't know if you're a whey or a soy--seems like one or the other upsets someone's stomach. Good luck with the protein.

I also had surgery the same day as you. I've lost 13 lb. I guess your youth gives you energy because I have none at all. (I'm 57) I am getting my walking in though. I'm up to 3/4 miles twice a day. I drink Ungury protein. chocolate and strawberry. I mix it in a shaker and then add ice and drink it through a straw. That way I can suck it to the back of my mouth and don't have to taste it as much. If you like strawberries, it really tastes like strawberries. I don't. The chocolate really isn't that bad. I'm just sick of sweet stuff. Cindy

I too had surgery on the 14th. As of my first follow-up appointment on the 23rd, I was down 21 pounds! I don't know where I am now, but I already feel like I have 10x the energy I had pre op and really haven't had any complications. I am having trouble getting in all of my liquid and protien though. Any suggestions???

Congratulations to all losers! I'm 2 weeks post-op and down 23 lbs. But, I don't have a lot of energy. I went back to work today for about 3 hours then went home and slept for 4 hours. I'm doing ok with the fluids and started the pureed diet today. So far it's ok. I walk as much as possible. It's good to hear that I am not alone. Thanks and good luck to everyone!

Congratulations! I am also 2-weeks post-op today, and I'm down 29lbs. I feel terrific! I had a lap RNY so I've been out and about Christmas shopping and just loving life! I'm eating everything...today I had 2 oz of Chinese food (protein) with my daughter while we were out shopping. I was eating solids at 5 days post-op. My doctor's nurse said that many of their patients do really well with chili as a protein food, so I had 1/4 cup on the way home, and it went down smooth. And ever since then I've been doing fine. Drinking the Isopure protein drinks has assured that I get my protein in if my pouch is being a grouch, and I rarely get esophageal spasms (yuk). But I'm doing great! And I'm so glad I did this! Happy holidays everyone!
