I am 10 day's out (had surgery on the 17th.) Just wondered how much fluids you are getting in, and how much protein? If you are eating, what are you eating? On the 22nd. I was supposed to start eating stuff like thinned out cream of wheat, yogurt, S.F./F.F. pudding etc. I can't get the liquids in yet, let alone any food. I can usually drink 24oz's of water, and about 3oz's of hot tea. Today I mixed 2 scoops of protein powder with 1 cup of Isopure in the blender(equals 56gr's of protein). It was very thick and I ate it with a spoon. It took me 2 1/2 hours to fini**** That added another 8 oz's of fluids to my intake. I was able to sip down 1 cup of Isopure late this evening(16gr's of protein~total of 72~new record for me) for a total of 40 oz's. That's a record for me too but not the required 64 oz's. of fluids. I tried to eat some S.F./F.F. pudding. I used a small baby spoon and was able to take 2 half spoon bites. Now I feel stuffed and uncomfortable again. I feel like I could Is anyone able to get all of this in? How do you do it? By the way I start my routine of sipping at 6:30 in the morning and end around midnight. So how much are you getting in and how long does it take? God bless you, Annette

Hi Annette... I suggest you read the tips listed at www.gastricbypasstips.com . It has a wealth of concise and comprehensive information... Also, you may want to initially consider getting a VERY High protein liquid like the one that Obesity Help advertises on this site. It is called PROFECT that has 25g in 2.7 oz, 0g Sugars, 0g Carb, 0g Fat. http://www.protica.com/affiliate/aw~B~4~A~172~Task~Click.asp This way you get ALL your protein in ONE meal of 5.4 oz upfront and enjoy the rest of the day eating normally instead of having to eat.. WAIT.. Drink and eat again ALL day... Hope this helps... Neil

Neil had a great plan..if you can tolorate it... I didnt worry about meals for the first month.. I worried about protien.. I drank 5, 8 ounce glasses of milk a day and ate 5 cheese sticks.. all I had room for, all I wanted, but I got my protien in.. You will work it out.. the dietitian has a good plan...DO your best..strive for enough liquid.. remember it is all about you and YOU have to concentrate on YOU for a while. Linda

Hi Linda, I'm concerned about getting the fluids and the protein in. It just doesn't seem possible. Gotta keep trying and do what I have to do to get it in. Thank you for the advise. God bless you, Annette

Hi Annette. I had my surgey on 11/18--one day after you. I have been getting in between 65-80 gms of protein a day and about 60-70 oz fluid (in addition to the fluid in my protein drinks). I am on liquids only, so no food for me yet. I make my drinks in 2oz increments because that it what my doc requires. If you check my profile, I posted how I was getting in 75grms of protein each day. Also, the past few days, I have made a 4oz drink with 32 grams of protein in it--it is good. 4oz milk (skim) = 4grms protein 1Tbs natural peanut butter=4grms 1 scoop protein = 23-25 grms ( I have been alternating between Champion Whey Bananna and Isopure Choc.--usually1/2 scoop of each) put in a blender and drink. I can only make this in the am because I don't have access to a blender all day, but I usually sip it over about 20 minutes, so I start off with 30+grms of protein. Also, as for fluids, room temperature has been going down easier and quicker for me. I sip constantly. I have also been making a big mug of broth with a splash of V-8 in it and eating it with a spoon while my famly eats dinner. It is about 10 oz. Also, the crystal light orange sunrise (or Wal-Mart generic version) mixed in at about 1/2 strength with my water seems to make the fluids go down easier. One last suggestion. My hubby had RNY on 9/6/05. he has been eating these high protein snacks every few days. They are stallone pudding and you can buy them at GNC. He likes the Lemon flavor best. It is 6oz of pudding and has 20 grams of protein. No sugar. Good Luck. R. Sperry

Thank you. That shake sounds good, plus it does have a great protein count. I'm up to about 40 oz's of fluids, but that includes the protein shakes. I like the stalone puddings (at least I did pre-op) I didn't know you could get them at G.N.C. Guess where I'm going tomorrow? God bless you, Annette
