Hello everyone~ I am having a hard time. My big day was Nov 4th. Loved my doc and the hosital. Here are somethings about me, 33 yrs old wife to a wonderful man and mom of 2 boys 10 and 13. I have told my boys everything about what I was going to do. My weight was 246 pre-diet then 238 pre-surgery and at 3 week out I am at 212 I am down 26lbs. I have only gotten sick a few times but all I can bring my self to to is sleep. I am going back to work on Mondy and I am scared. I am a strong person but I am really having a hard time with this..... thanks, Julie Ann

I understand from your post is that you are scared going back to work on Monday... Assuming you had laparoscopic procedure, many people returned to work in 3 days, 5 days, on week and on average 2 weeks... However, some went back to work 3 weeks later and STILL had to leave work early. Just prepare your employer that this may happen and is BEYOND your control... and ANY decent employer would understand that you just came out of a major surgery... Whatever the case. Your health comes FIRST!... Good luck to you... Hope this helped best, Neil

Hows your B-12?? are you doing it 2X a week?? (Sublingually) Biotin and B-1 is what I take daily along with my multi... A little exercise when you get moving in the morning will wake up your endorphins and help you wake up.. I know I slept alot the first couple weeks.. remember our bodys are going thru MAJOR changes. and again.. don't slack on the protien..It helps give you energy too.. Hope I helped.. Linda

Julie Ann, I had my surgery on Nov. 8 and I didn't take naps the first week I came home but the past 2 weeks, I am just so tierd, I have been taken 2- 3 hours naps, also... I was told it could still be from the anastisha. (sp). I was told it takes time, It actully might be 4-5 weeks, so if you can't go the full day I wouldn't . Talk to your doctor if you need more time, if your not ready to go back. With kids I have 2 teenagers myself, and your not getting your sleep when you are busy taking care of them. Remember that. I know that because if I am sleeping my youngest always wakes me up when he gets up or if he can't sleep. So you not always getting the sleep you need and the time you need to recoupe, when we fell better we do more and then the kids demand more so when over do. Lisa

Hey Julie Ann-- I'm at about the same stage as you--surgery 11/1, and I'm pretty tired too. You're definitely not alone. Hang in there; build as much rest into your work days as you can. I don't know what your company is like, but I remember when I was pregnant I used to go to the "Nursing Mother" room for an hour every afternoon and lock the door and sleep. It really helped. Maybe you could work out something like that for the next couple of weeks until you feel more energetic. Best of luck tomorrow--people will be excited to see you and will be able to see your weight loss already, so maybe that high will give you a little boost too. Take care, Chandra

Hi Julie Ann, Hope you're getting 70gs of protein and all of your vitamins, calcium and iron. Plus your 64 oz of fluids. Sounds like you're doing great at the weight loss part. I'm a mom of two boys too! I'll try to read your profile and look for any clues. Don't be scared--you're going to make it. Just be sure to stick with the basics: protein, vitamins, liquids...

Julie Ann, please dear, give yourself a break! All of this just isn't necessary. That morning and bedtime protein shake are critical to your wellness. You did not say what kind of work it is that you do. My advice is to remember your timer and that it is your friend. You did just have surgery 30 days ago. Your insides were rerouted. You cannot eat the things you used to. You cannot skip meals. You cannot skip taking in water during the day. You cannot miss your vitamins. You cannot drink soda or eat junk food. Your meals will be different from your co-workers for the rest of your life. These are the facts. When you return to work, they are all going to want to know about it, so take advantage of the situation and be totally honest with them. Introduce them to your timer. Tell them you live your life in 30 minute increments. Tell them about you eating, waiting, drinking, waiting, eating cycle. Tell them about the gas. Make sure you take air cleaner with you. Your work place is afterall where you will be spending the majority of your waking hours. You had the guts to take your weight control into your own hands. Now is not the time to "wuss out". When you get home from work, insist on your "Me" time. When the weekend comes and you feel the need to "nest" do it. Before long you and your family will establish a new normal and you all will be able to get back to living. I am rooting for you and I know you are a winner!
