I have had leg pain both before and after surgery. My right leg seems to fall asleep above the knee all the way to the hip. I have had to elevate it while I sleep. It is better, but still hurts all the time. Any advice? I am post op had my surgery on the 15th. Kelly

From what I've been told, circulation is very important after surgery. You might want to have someone massage it a couple of times a day to keep the blood circulating. Did the hospital put special socks on you when you were in? Lisa

I have had the same problem and so have a couple of people in my support group. They tell me it is normal and will go away with time - boy I sure hope so! Susann

I have read that it is not uncommon to have some minor nerve problems after anesthesia. It sometimes takes a couple of months to go away. I like the massage idea someone gave. I also think it's really important to keep getting plenty of exercise to improve circulation and speed recovery to the area. If you develop leg cramps though, call your surgeon right away. Good luck.

walk as much as you can..or ride an incombant bike..(the kind that lays back) you need to keep it moving and circulating the blood.. we can get bloodclots right after surgery so be careful!! contact your dr if it gets hot or to painful in one place.. Linda

Now that you are home, are you walking a lot? It is VERY important to walk a lot post-op to keep the blood moving. If this continues, call your surgeon. He might prescribe you blood thinners which help prevent blood clots. Even if you are just walking around your home back and forth and such, do it. Walk, walk, walk!! Keep your surgeon informed on this!!! Hi Kelly, I am post-op Nov 14 and am experiencing the leg pain in both legs too. Doc said it should get better in a few days. He thinks it may have something to do with the leg straps used in surgery. Mine bothers me whether I sit, stand or walk and affects sleep. I've used a ho****er bottle and a small hand held massager that seems to help a little. Hang in there! Deborah
