I have a date

Hi. I was appoved for surgery on September 20. I have gotten a date for my sugery on November 28. I'm nervous and excited at the same time. My husband is in the Army so I don't have any family near me for support. Hoping to meet some others who are going through this also. Thanks. Stacy

You got family... the army is your faily I am sure people wil be there to support you and we are here online if you need something!!! Linda

Oh I know I just meant my immediate family wasn't here. I do have friends here but just wanted to talk to people who know what I'll be going through. Stacy

Hi Stacy I am having the surgery on Monday. I have been nervous (not really scared yet if at all) but today I am kicking it in high gear so I think that will help. I am doing the laundry and working on Christmas gifts. It is raining here so decided to what on getting the foods I will need next wee****il tomorrow. I am just trying to keep busy and avoid my Mom. She is so neg. about this surgery and I just can't deal with that right now. I live on this board because of all the positive vibes that comes from it. I am in the midst of doing my 2 week liquid protein diet. Actually I have not been hungry as much as I thought I would be! I am amazed! Good luck to you! Write me if you want, Anna

Hi Anna: My surgery is Monday also. I have the same emotions as you. One minute I get really excited not really scared. I hope I stay that way. I too am trying to get my house in order. I don't have to do the liquid diet except Sunday. I kinda feel like I'm in Limbo and can't really concentrate on anything for very long! Time passes so slow when you're having fun. Right? Hi Cindy Good luck to you on Monday. I can't wait until Tues. Night when we are home safe and sound and in our own beds. I remember when I was in to have my hystorectomy I did not get much sleep. They kept waking me up. Write when you get home and let me know how your doing. Hugs Anna

Anna I wish you all the best on Monday. I know what you mean about trying to get things done. I seem to be obsessed with cleaning my house now that I know the surgery is coming up so soon. Also, my mother is the same way. Everytime I talk to her she wants to tell me all the negative things she can think of about the surgery. My favorite is when I called her to tell her my date she said "you know you can die, right?". Nice encouragement there. I have to do a 2 week diet too, but not liquid. Just high protein and low carb. Sweety I understand I just had my surgery done on the 2nd I am AF wife and noone here but hubby. OK tell the squadron wives about it right away and you will get a response if you one get to them by email attach some pics of the surgery. Also check with the local area I found in mine a support group for WLS at a local hospital. My hubby goes with me to help him understand as well. Also if you get a chance email me personally. Military can be hard I know when it come to being in a new place new everythign and then going into a hospital you are a stranger to and havign the courage to have it done by almost strangers. Amy

I shouldnt say almost strangers because came the surgery day I have gotten to see one of my nurses and my surgeon enough to know I trusted them and my nurse is in the support group so got to know her more as well. But I hope Im making sense and there are people. People cant come forward if they dont know about it.

Hey Stacy! My date is November 29th so we are very close in dates. I am nervous and excited too. I got my date last week, but since my surgery has been postponed before I didn't quite belive it was happening until I got my letter from my doctor for work, made the pre-op appt and got my info packet in the mail. I have to be on a liquid diet for three days before surgery, what about you? I know where you are.....my best friend and her husband were stationed there for a while. I can imagine how hard it is not having family near you. Will your husband be there? If you ever want to talk you can email me at any time! Good luck!
