I'm sick

Wouldn't you know,,,my 4 year old managed to infect me with his current virus. My November 8th date has now been cancelled. I have to call back after I am completly recovered for a week, then they will put me back on the surgical schedule. Guess that will make me a December surgery. But I draw the line at Christmas,,,I will not do this to my family at Christmas time, If they can't do it before, then it will have to wait till after the holiday. To all you Novermber sugeries, I wish you the easiest of surgeries, and the swiftest of recoveries,,,I will be right behind you. Vee

My son has had the WORST case of croup. He has had it since the weekend. Actually Saunday night the ambulence transported him to the ER, thats how bad he was,,, and he still isn't better yet,,,,he is finally STARTING to impove, only about half a dozen coughing episodes last night, probably the most sleep we have all gotten in a week. I am sure the lack of sleep helped me to contract his virus, and fortunatly I don't have it as bad as he does. but my throat gets dry and scratchy, and if feels like there is a lump in it,not to mention the icky stuff that comes up, (sorry TMI), plus the occasonal coughing sure does suck. WIth being an asthmatic, it is probablyl best that I stay away from the surgery with the virus. Still doesn't make it any less disappointing. But everyone is excited that Mom will now be able to have Thanksgiving dinner with them ( I was prepared to do my liquids for turkey day)!! LOL My rescheule will most likely be December now. grrrr Thank you Shelia Vee

I am 6 months out and you are lucky you got sick now instead of after surgery.. Dr told me I should get a flu shot because If I get it I will probably get hit harder.. Sorry about the wait but it is for your own good. Linda

I did get my flu shot,,I had a case of it a few years ago that was so bad, I swore I would always get my flu shot from then on, and I have.

Hi Vee, I also understand your frustration. I am now on my 3rd surgical date. My first was cancelled due to the doctor's assistant being ill, the second was cancelled due to my potassium level being too low which caused irregular heart rhythm, chest pain and shortness of breath. My current and 3rd date is November 11, 2005. I may have to be put in the hospital sooner if potassium is still too low. I will keep you in my prayers for a speedy recovery and a new date soon.
