Liquid diet?
Hi all,
I was reading the thread on if people are required to do the liquid diet or not. I do not have to but after reading the post I want to. Where do I get iformation on what a liquid diet is and what you can have. Is omnifast over the counter or do you need a perscription. Is it available in health food stores?
Thanks,
Sheila

HI SHEILA, I STARTED MY LIQUID DIET ON THE 19TH OF OCT. AND I HAVE A TWO WEEK LIQUID DIET IT'S KINDA STRANGE THAT SOME DOCTORS REQUIRE IT AND OTHERS DONT BUT I'LL TELL YOU ALOT OF INFORMATION THAT I HAVE GATHERED ABOUT THE LIQUID DIET IN A MINUTE BUT FIRST LET ME TELL YOU I HAVE HAD A HARD TIME WITH THE LIQUID DIET....BECAUSE MY FIRST 4 DAYS I KIND OF SNACKED ONCE EACH DAY,BUT I TALKED TO MY SURGICAL NURSE ABOUT THE SITUATION AND SHE SAID WELL WE ARE TRYING TO SHRINK YOUR STOMACK NOT EXPAND IT....I ALREADY NEW THAT BUT WHAT I DIDNT KNOW IS....THE ONLY THING THAT THEY RECOMMENDED ME TO DRINK IS THE CIB (CARNATION INSTANT BREAKFAST) THE CHOC IS THE BEST YUMMY!!!!!!!!! ANY HOW AT THE BEGINNING WHAT I WAS DOING IS DRINKING 6 CUP OF CIB AND SIPPING ON SOUPS(WHICH BY THE WAY I BELIEVE IS WHAT WAS MAKING ME HUNGRY,BECAUSE WHEN I STOP SIPPING ON THE SOUPS I STOP GETTING HUNGRY....) AND DIET SPRITE.....THE NEXT DAY I STARTED OUT ONLY DRINKING CIB 1CUP OF SKIM,1%,OR 2% MILK MIXED WITH CIB. I WILL DRINK AT 10,12,2,4,6,& 8. IF I DRINK ANYTHING ELSE I DRINK H2O INBETWEEN THE HOURS BUT HONESTLY THE CIB MAKES ME FEEL SO FULL I DON'T DESIRE TO DRINK AND/OR EAT ANYTHING.......BUT BEFORE I DRINK MY CIB I TAKE MY FLINSTONE COMPLETE VITAMIN....AND TWO TYLENOL IF I HAVE A HEADACHE....
NOW THE INFO THAT MY DOCTOR HAS TOLD ME AND HAS TYPED ON PAPER IS WHAT THE LIQUID DIET WILL DO IS MENTALLY PREPARE YOU FOR THE POST OP OF SURGERY AND IT WILL ALSO SHRINK YOUR LIVER MAKING IT EASIER FOR YOUR DOCTOR TO GET INSIDE AND DO THE WORK HE NEEDS TO DO.... I JUST WANT TO DO WHAT THE DOCTOR SAID AND ABIDE BY THE RULES OF SURGERY SO I KNOW I DID THE BEST I COULD BEFORE HAND TO HELP WHATS GOING TO GO ON WHILE I'M ON THE TABLE AND IF YOU WANT TO TAKE UP THE LIQUID DIET THAT IS UP TO YOU, BUT MY ADVICE WOULD BE TO DO WHAT THE DOCTORS ASKED AND IF THEY DON'T ASK YOU TO DO A LIQUID DIET AND YOU REALLY WANT TO GET YOURSELF PREPARED I WOULD GIVE IT THREE DAYS BEFORE SURGERY.....GOOD LUCK FOR I KNOW YOU WILL DO WELL AND EVERYTHING WILL WORK OUT AS GOD HAS PLANNED... CONGRATS ON THE SURGERY AND GOOD LUCK I'LL KEEP YOU IN MY PRAYERS THAT THE LORD WILL LEAD YOU TO MAKING THE BEST DECISION FOR YOURSELF.....
WELL I HAVE 5 DAYS AND A WAKE UP BUT ALMOST 4 DAYS AND A WAKE UP YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!I'M SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
EXCITED....... BYE BYE NOW TYPE AT YOU LATER...
