The doctor places a small ring around the stoma (connection between new pouch and roux limb of small intestines. It is thought to prevent the stoma from stretching over time and provide a higher % of long term weight loss. It is also called the fobi. My doc offeres it as an added feature of the Roux en Y procedure. My hubby did not have it done when he had his surgery in Sept. R. Sperry
