Plastic Surgery
Hello to all of my 14 monther's.
I'm scheduled for my abdominoplasty and mastopexy with breast augmentation on Feb 6th. Has anyone else had plastic surgery yet?
I know there are ps threads, but since we're all the same time out, I thought I would check here.
I'm still 30 pounds from goal and my surgeon said I had about 10 pounds of skin to be cut off, so I'm hoping I can actually reach goal weight by summer.
Let me know if anyone else is in the process of surgery.
My total is $12,600 with silicone 425cc implants, an overnight stay (had to pay extra and have to pay for private duty nurse part of total cost), abdominoplasty with muscle repair and lipo on thighs. She quoted 7 hours of surgical time and the price includes anesthesia. She really discounted as a "package deal" as seperately, it would have been $3500 more for two operating room charges.
I tried to go through insurance and appealed it, but it wasn't worth it. Insurance would only pay for a panniculectomy if I was approved (which I wasn't) and I need a full tummy tuck as I have so much skin to cut off and a panni couldn't cut it (pardon the pun). I'm paying out of pocket and accept the charges a part of the costs of me gaining so much weight to begin with and being fortunate enough to only have to pay $100 co-pay for my RNY.
9 more days!
Dear Ann,
I have an arm lift and breast reduction scheduled for the end of February. I still have about 25 more pounds to reach goal so I'll hold off on the tummy tuc****il I reach that. I figured waiting to reach goal wouldn't make that much difference on the top. I'm still in an H cup after losing 205 pounds so what difference will another 25 make!
Also, this will give me plenty of healing time between surgeries so I can get both of them taken care of in one year (assuming insurance will pay for the tummy). I need to have the thighs done, but I read so many bad things about the healing process that I will probably skip that. My legs were never a great feature anyway!
Best of luck,
Sally
I started my PS journey last August with consultations. I have had 3 consultations so far and 1 more to go in February. I am looking into having a LBL and a BL probably without implants hopefully at the end of June. Not sure yet if I want implants or not. Most PS want you to be at goal weight and stable for sometime. I am below goal weight and have been stable for 2 months. I would be cautious with getting a TT if you are 30 pounds from goal due to your skin may still be slightly hanging from losing that much weight. The PS that I will probably ended up going with stated my weight could flexuate between 15-20 pounds without damaging my PS results. I would ask your PS this question what would happen if you lose the 30 pounds. This part of the process is very expensive ecspecially if you are a self pay patient. Best of luck in your new and upcoming journey!
Hi Ann B.
I had RNY 11/22/05. I am now 6 weeks post op from LBL. You can get lots of great information on the Plastic Surgery Messageboards. I was 15 lbs from my goal when I had my LBL. My PS removed 13.5 lbs of skin from my body. If you would like to see before and after photos they are on my profile. You will swell off and on for some time after the surgery ( I was told it could happen for up to a yr. ). I am NOT sorry that I had the PS. I had to private pay for it too....and it wasn't cheap. But I am very pleased and getting more so every day when the swelling goes down. Good luck to you on your journey. If I can answer any questions for you please don't hesatate to ask.
Hugs and blessings ~~~ Vivian
