Really embarressed
I had surgery Nov 15th, 05 to date I have lost 52 pounds. Nothing since Jan. JAN!! I was scoped in Jan and have had steriods burst 4 times since Jan. Nothing since then. Makes me really sick!! I did go from a size 24 to a 16 and 270 to 219 but I really thought I would be under 200 by now. Not sure what I can do. Did they stretch me too much so I never feel hungry? Not sure how I can fix this get the last 35 pounds off! My husband is going to Iraq soon and I want to look good for him.
Any suggestions?
Casey
You HAVE lost 52 lb, hurrah for you! That is an achievement. I do understand that you are expecting more, but if you only have about 80 lb to lose in total, you were a "light weight" to start with. You are ALREADY looking good. Who wouldn't with 52 lb lost? Why beat yourself up? Does it help? NO! Instead, look at what you have accomplished and carefully examine your daily food/liquid intake and excercise regime. Be very honest with yourself and make adjustments as needed. if you are doing everything right, then dojn't go off your diet, but rev up the excercise. You may be losing more slowly than others, but your body is not my body. Don't give up. Slow ansd steady wins the race. You may be on the world's longest plateau, but it will bust when it is meant to be. Good luck.
Nothing to be embarrassed about at all! You have done wonderful! 52 pounds is 10 1/2 - 5 pound bags of sugar. Have you ever seen 10 bags of 5 pounds sugar stacked up one on top of the other? That, my dear, is a tall stack!!! You no longer are carrying that around with you wherever you go! WAHOO!!!
Each journey is different for WLS patients. Only you know your habits. One of my bad habit is that I haven't been journaling for awhile now, and I've been slipping on eating more quick foods than nutritional foods. I have 10 - 15 pounds that I want to lose before New Years so I am going to do the plateau buster diet that someone posted here. I'm sure if you're interested someone can send it your way!
Final note, YOU ARE NOT ALONE! We all have struggles. Like we all knew before surgery, this surgery is only a tool. We have to re-learn how to control our portions and will always have to avoid certain foods. Lately I've been slipping back into old habits, but am fighting with all my strength to nip these habits in the bud now before I start gaining weight.
E-mail anytime and if you want a journal buddy, let me know!

I had surgery on Nov. 2, 05 and have lost a total of 50 lbs. so I know how your feeling. I have not lost anything since Febuary. I can eat and eat and never feel full and I don't dump very often either. I feel like a failure and need a big kick in the butt to get a kickstart!!! If you would ever like to talk, just email me please.

That is really tough I know.. you feel like you are trying to do everything right and it's still not "working". I have been fluxuating the same 4 lbs for about 4 mos. now, SO frustrating, and I'm close to goal but not quite at my goal.
But the previous posters are all right.. Take a look at everything you are doing, make the small adjustments-- up protein, water, exercise, play with calories. And keep at it. You have done great. The sugar bags analogy is a good one, picture that! And keep going. I'm a year out on Saturday and getting depressed I won't hit my goals by then but I keep thinking what I was like a year ago and that helps.
