9 month plateau

Hi all! It's ben forever since I've been here. We moved and the only IS we get is dial up and it takes forever to get here. I'm also having a problem getting daily posts sent to my e-mail to know what's going on here. The good news...I'M BACK! OK...here's my issue. I'm 9 mo out (like all of you) and have stayed at 95-97 pound for the last 2 months or so. I have just a few to get to onederland and my century card...and then another 40. I am very frustrated, I'm a health care provider and know all the does and don'ts and I'm just not getting it! 2 months ago I started training for a 5K run, couldn't even run one time around the track, now I ENJOY a 3.5 mile 3-4 times a week. (who'd of thunk!) I know, I know, muscle weighs more than fat, but this isn't just muscle gaining, my clothoing size isn't changing either. I am officially taking out the food journal again and logging all the essentials....do any of you have any ideas for breaking this plateau? Thanks for any input! Stephanie 276/181/ (wanna get to 140)

You may need to increase your calorie intake oper day becasue of your increase in excercise. Sounds a bit counter productive, but you need fuel in order to lose weight. Try it, many have found that increasing calories is the answer. Good luck.

I would agree with the prev. post. I too have started running and had the same problem. I have increased my calorie intake(not the correct way high cal carbs) and have lost 3 lbs in the past week. I wouldnt reccommend the high cal carb but I cannot think of other foods that i can get in without being a grazer and I dont want that either. I also did the food journal and did find that I was only at like 800 cal/day way to low. Also if you look at a couple post back you will see that your weight loss is actually pretty aveage for most of us. Keep up the good work on the running I also have a goal of a 5 k originally it was for this spring but there is the race for the cure coming up and I may do that a friend said that I need to push for 5 miles so that way You dont get a fatigued toward the end of the 5k. keep me posted. Stephanie; Definitely increase your protein. If you don't see a change within a week, make an appointment with your nutritionist. Blessings, Jennifer 253 / 156 / 137

Jennifer-- I seem to stop losing whenever I'm getting more protein. I know it's weird, and maybe it's just a coincidence, but I'm about ready to stop taking it!! I actually gain a few pounds, and I'm still at maybe 1000 calories a day total. I haven't lost weight in over a month...despite exercise, water and protein increase. It's frustrating -- I'm over 300 lbs still, so it's not like I'm close to goal.

LC; I just read your profile and it says you're seeing your surgeon in a few days. Take your food diaries for the past month and have him review them for a clue. Even if you've been gaining muscle mass from your exercise, muscle burns more calories than fat, so you should still be losing. When you increase your protein, are you doing it with shakes that have a lot of carbs or fat? I stick mainly with Profect. It's 25g of protein, 0g fat, 0g carbs and 100 cal, so basically pure protein. It makes a huge difference for me although right now, I'm struggling to eat enough to support the amount of activity I'm doing. Blessings, Jennifer

Jennifer - I drink only Isopure or Nectar. Unfortunately, our dietician is out and has just had back surgery. But my weight loss is frustrating, especially considering how far I still have to go. Also, I've increased my activity SO much in the past 2 months.
