Help! I'm in a food rut, and I've gained a few lbs...I ate some regular cookies by mistake (omg I was SO sick and so happy to be sick I can't tell you) then I missed some liquids and protein for a few days...add that to some missed gym sessions and I gained 3 lbs. I am not a happy camper and I'm determined to turn this around since I am not very far to goal (about 27 lbs now). So, my question for all the November people is what are you eating each day and how much? I don't "cheat" with what I eat, but I know I could probably make better choices (like skipping the saltines with my tuna salad or the 1/2 of light beer I had during a night out) so I'm looking for new ideas and encouragement. Any input would be appreciated! Christine

Hi,Christine I've been eating alot of salads, fresh tomatoes, cukes, everything fresh from the garden.I try to stay away from potatoes. For a treat I eat Blue Bunny"no sugar added"ice cream, about a cup.I also like beef jerky,a good protien snack.I can eat almost anything, but I've noticed my weight isn't coming off very fast now,a couple pounds a week, which is fine,I think. You have to let your hair down once in a while,it doesn't hurt to have a drink or beer once in a while. My favorite is a Margarita on the rocks,on the weekend.Just try to add some variety to your meals, theirs alot of good low cal food out there.Good Luck! Hi Christine, I don't let myself get into a rut and try to make sure I've got lots of food choices around me, home and work, so I don't get tempted to SPLURGE... (confession: I was out of town this weekend and ate a white chocolate macademia nut cookie!! boy was I sick afterward!!! YUCK) I've added more fresh fruit lately, especially since it's so fresh and ripe right now. A ripe, juicy, sliced peach can cure the craving for anything sweet! I'm also loving fresh cherries, pineapple, and watermelon. My support group is putting together a cookbook so I have been reading more recipes lately and figuring out how to covert them so they are WLS friendly. Less fat, less sugar, more whole grains and veggies along with the protein. I haven't tried beer yet, mostly due to another post-op scaring the crap out of me when she told of taking a swig and ending up in the hospital with dehydration after throwing up and foaming non-stop. How about the exercise? This makes all the difference!! Keep on going... you're getting so close! Hugs, Tammy

Hi surgery twin! Boy - Do I know how you feel about a rut! And now...it is sooo easy to eat so many things! We HAVE to keep making good choices! You know what needs to be done! Skipping the saltines is a good step in the right direction. I agree with everyone else. Search out some veggies that you would like to have, fruits and add them to your protein. It's a challenge that is for sure. But you can do it! So close! Good luck and best wishes! Janna B.
