Topic: RE: Have question for my peers (It's embarrasing!)
I am soooooo glad you wrote this - I was certain I was experiencing some sort of surgery failure - I have been toxic for days - I think after reading this it may be because my diet is mostly animal crackers and coffee w splenda - Having a really hard time with food lately - these are the only things that feel good to me....
Will have to change my diet.
Nice to know - I'm not alone... Heck they ought to release us on Iraq - perhaps the dang war would be over much faster

What is your favorite meal these days?
(This is a ploy to get ideas from you all on new things to eat.)
Mine is either a small chef salad or a nice piece of halibut (usually about 2 oz in size).

I just figured I was rotten from the inside out!! I do not think there is a cure, but like the other posters say try experiementing with foods to eliminate or minimize in your diet. I use extra strength gas-x, but its not an immediate fix, I take 2-3 chewables the night before if I know the next day I do not want to embarrass myself. Lucky for me I work 3rd shift, alone LOL. Its when I go to the gym in the morning .... ever trying to hold it in while walking 3.5 mph on a incline treadmil? eeps!

Topic: RE: ALOT OF WEIGHT OT LOSS
I've heard it said that the first 100 or so pounds is the surgery the last 20-30 is all us. There is a ratio to consider I'm sure, for those who only had 100 to lose, their last 10 frustrated them to no end, for those who have more the last 30 or 50 are the bain of our existance. Mine has slowed to a crawl, the scale moves once every two weeks or so. But I am doing everything right, eatting good stuff, exercising daily, protein and liquid and vitamin goals met daily. You can try changing a few things, add weight training to your exercise, remove one "bad" food from your house/diet. But in the end just be patient, the honey moon is not over, we are not even a year out. Do you keep a journal? Maybe if its on paper what you are eatting you can see if that is the problem. What is your daily caloric intake, it could be too high, it could be too low. Try journalling you food intake, calories, carbs etc for a week, then get an appointment with your nutritionist and see what they suggest.
Good Luck
Be Patient, 6 pounds a month is still moving in the right directions

Topic: pray for victims of hurricane katrina
I just want to spread the power of prayer for those victims and their families of hurricane katrina. My issues seem to be small compared to the people who have lost everything. If anyone agrees please reply.
Thanks

I found that I get really bad gas when I have sugar products (including Splenda) and dairy. Try going a couple of days without dairy or sugars and see if it makes a difference. Not saying you are eating sweets but if you read lables on food, most things contain some sugar in them, try and eliminate the foods with the higher content.

Honey, If they put all of us post ops in the superdome for the weekend, we'd end up killing each other from the stench
Most of us have the same issue and it is very difficult to not have. I do find the more dairy I have, the worse it is. I am not lactose intolerant, but that is the way the body breaks it down. Try backing off on the dairy for a while and stay away from gassy veggies. (lettuce, corn, cabbage, beans, broccoli, cauliflower etc)
If you are using a lot of Splenda and products with Splenda that is also something that gives lots of gas.
Good luck

Hi Kay,
Do you have a nutrionist to talk to? You might just need to change up what you are eating. Check with your surgeon or nutrionist. There are people that continue to lose out past two years. It is not over after 6 months to a year. You can continue to lose, they just say the first 6 month is the easiest. Good luck and you will do it.
