Hey November crew! I'm from the December crew. We just had a couple of questions for our November friends...... 1. we've all slowed down to like one-two pounds a month - yikes! Did yours pick back up again or stay like this.... 2. we have all started eating more - and wanting some of our old foods again - double yikes - normal? 3. are you getting nervous that your not going to make goal? Thanks for your input.. Candy 266/159/140 12/15/05

Topic: I am driving myself nuts!
This is the wierdest thing. I only weigh on Fri and as of this morning I am down 92 lbs. The thing is, that for the past couple of weeks, I feel like I'm gaining weight when I clearly am not. I look in the mirror and I do not see 92 lbs gone. I honestly feel like I'm gaining weight! It's just so bizarre. I didn't have the opportunity to have a pre-surgery counselling program so I'm just wondering if this is something that maybe they told you may occur? I'm a therapist and I recognize this as being all in my head but I can't seem to shake the feeling. Maybe it's just the anxiety of this being too good to be true and like all other "diets" I've tried in the past it's my fear that the weight will eventually come back on. I'm not back sliding in my eating or anything and the surgery is doing what it is supposed to do and I'm way ahead of the curve according to my doctor. I just hope I'm trying not to talk myself into sabotage is all. Anybody else experiencing something similar? Any suggestions? I just need at least one other person to say they're experiencing the same thing to normalize it for me! Carey 243/151/130

Topic: RE: hypothyroid supplement
My wife has hypothyroidism and she finds it hard to lose weight. I was wondering though... she already takes Levoxyl. This is to make her thyroid function normally. Will this supplement that you are talking about interfere with her medication? Please let me know. I know that she is always saying she is fat. I want to help her. Ramon

Topic: RE: I ate an entire Pizza Hut Personal Pan Pizza!
Hi Sharon, I hope I am able to provide some comforting words. First, we are SUPPOSED to be eating more these days. We were not meant to survive on 2oz of food permanently. We should be eating 8oz or 2 cups of food per meal now. I guess you'd say the way normal people eat. Figure in the malabsorption from the surgery too. My nutritionist says we probably absorb 40 % of the calories we eat in a day. (Although I believe I absorb them all!!!) Secondly, when I've spoken to my therapist about this subject and the "bad" days, she tells me that we are human and not machines and do not obsess over them. Focus on all the good days and where you have been compared to where you are now. It comes down to this. Every day we have choices-what to wear, what to eat, what to do, what to say, etc. Everytime you prepare a meal for yourself and you'd rather be eating something else( like Pizza Hut pizzas) tell yourself this is your choice. You make this choice for your body, your health, your spirit. When you are done eating and feel physically satisfied and not hungry, you will so thank yourself! Also, when my family is having pizza or something else that is not the best choice for me, I always have a small salad, or 1/2 a grapefruit, etc. first and it really does help me from eating more of the stuff I shouldn't. Keep a positive mind and remind yourself that you are worth being healthy and happy. Laura

Topic: hypothyroid supplement
Hello all, I have tried a supplement specifically for hypothyroid disease. It is called Thyrin ATC and I bought it at Wal-mart. It has really helped. I am at least losing consistently 2-3 pounds every 10 days. Finally someone has paid attention to the masses of hypothyroid patients. Try it, if you are hypothyroid. It is about 20$ for a months supply, but I like it. Take care and be healthy!

Topic: RE: plastic surgery to soon?
Hi Diane Having had time to think, I think i'm going to wait on the plastic surgery as well. I will be a year post op this November 1st, think i'll give it another year and see where i'm at. By that time I will be living in Florida and i hope there will be better choices there. I really need to get a more recent picture up there on my information page. Ty

I too think an 80 pound loss since surgery is pretty good, it's just about what I've done. The last few months have been very slow when it comes to weight loss. I'd check out the your state board to see if you can hook up with some body in your area. Maybe there's a doc or support group. Do you have a nutritionist that you could see? I'm hoping for plastic surgery, but think I'll wait until next year, wait until everything settles. Then I'll see just how much I look like sharpei.... best wishes diane

Topic: RE: 9 month check-up!!
Hi Debi, Thanks for you concern. At this point I have no support what so ever, I am doing this all on my own. Yes I have been doing protein supplements, in-fact i'm getting in as much protein as I can, and drinking plenty of water. I have been reading everyones progress (WTG to everyone). However, looking at my own progress, I have reached my realistic goal of 75 but now am looking at where I should be at 10 months post op. i must say it does not look very well I went from loosing 20 pounds a month for the first 3 months, to 10 pounds the next month, and then finally an almost 6 months of not loosing anything at all. My starting weight was 326 and now i'm at 246 (total 70 pounds). It really concerns me seeing how much everyone has lost in the first 6 months, that I have not lost as much. Am I starting to not be realistic? If so let me know. I could understand not loosing anything, if I were not eating properly, not drinking enough fluids, and not exercising but even if I were not exercising, there have been people on here that did not exercising at all and still lost over 100 pounds withing the first few months. I however have problems with my hips that prevents me from exercising, the pain in my hips is sometimes unbearable but I still exercise, with no results. If it sounds like i'm complaining/whining to much here sorry but i'm frustrated and need to get all of this out of me before it drives me insane. Again thank you for your concern. Ty
