Ken, First of all, congratulations on your amazing success!! Second of all.. PAIN IN YOUR CHEST?? GOOD LORD MAN CALL THE DOCTOR!! Something I learned early on.. don't mess around with strange pains.. It could be something as minor as a stricture.. it could be something more serious.. but you MUST get it checked.. our bodies have been altered physically.. any strange, unexplained, out of the blue pain should be checked by your doctor.. Just call.. it can't hurt and can only help.. Stef

1) From my highest weight I have lost 107 pounds. But I really only count the pounds from surgery becuase those that I lost before surgery were from stress and not from anything I did to make them go away. So from surgery I have lost 95 pounds. 2) No, no goal revision. I am still trying for 155. Although I do not feel like I am going to reach that by one year. 3) Goals for anniversary....hmmmm.... to be in a solid size 12 (my size goal, I am in a comfortable 14 now), I would like to be a goal weight but will be ok if I am not yet. I would like to be starting my plastics journey by one year too. 4) I have 24 more to go. And they just do not want to leave me. I have been on a stalled pattern for 2 months. I thought I broke it last week, but nope they came back. I am working with my nutritionist to see what I can do to break it.

I'm happy where I am, but would like to lose 5 more pounds to get to a "normal" BMI 3. Do you have a goal for your anniversary date??? Win the lottery? (only kidding, but could use some $$$ for plastics) 4. How many more Lbs do you need to lose in order to reach goal? 5 Nothing exciting here, just wish the scale would move those last 5 lbs. It hasn't moved in 2 months Tee 278/152/146

Hiya Ken, I am sorry to hear about your pain, and I have no suggestions except to keep the doctors informed about how you are feeling. Wow - 200 lbs gone!!! AMAZING!! - I am thinking that is the highest number I have seen in our November group here. As far as how much you are eating, not sure cuz you really didnt say how much. For me, I eat "normal" size portions - a palm sized peace of protein and then a finger spread of veggies. I cant eat much in the bread dept either, a few bites and then I feel like there is a lump in my pouch, but you know, all that stuff is just empty calories that does our body no good so I am not missing it. I do eat fruits also. I probably eat every 2 hours - not a meal but something. And the water, lots and lots of water! Keep us posted on how you are doing. God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

Hiya B I love your monthly check in questions!! 1. I have lost 102 lbs from my highest weight - I started at 223 and I am at 121 and holding. 2. I revised my goal a few months ago, although not a major revision. I changed it from 125 to 123 so it would be an even 100 lbs and century club. Well I am happy to say I am under goal by 2 lbs. 3. My goal for my anniversary date is to keep on doing what I am doing, especially the exercise. I run 4 - 5 days per week and 4 - 5 miles per day. I am eating healthy... have added a bit of carbs in moderation and am doing fine with that. I would like to have my running times get a bit faster, as they have been all along since I began running in March. I can do the full 5 miles in under 50 minutes so that means I am consistently running under 10 minute miles which was a milestone for me. I would like to increase eventually to 6 - 8 miles per day and to be able to do 8 minute miles. That wouldnt be by this anniversary though, maybe next!! 4. ZERO!! I am 2 lbs under my goal - woo hoo! Thanks again for doing this B! God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea

Hello All, I haven't visited this web site in a while, but I have a question for the group. I had the surgery in Nov. of 2004. I have lost over 200 lbs. total (pre and post-op). I am doing real well: hardly any loose skin (only a little in the waist), my hair has grown back, I have a lot of energy. I am currently 6' and 220 lbs. I am losing about a pound a week. I eat relatively normal foods, but I still don't want/can't have breads, pizza, soda, sugars, milk, pasta (more than a couple of bytes), or crisp vegatables. I also can have a hard time with meat. I seem to eat much less than other post-ops I know. So, even though I am doing well, I have started to have some issues lately. I have had pain in my abdomen, just to the left of my sternum. It has been getting worse, but not excruciating. Began approx. 3 months ago. At first eating didn't affect the pain, but now eating seens to make it worse (the Doc. isn't yet aware of this development). It almost mimics the pain of having my stomach tube removed 4 weeks after surgery. Cat scan is normal. Blood work is good. Gallbladder ultrasound shows some formations, probably not gallstones, but the precursor of gallstones. Doc. wants me on Protonix in case pain is an ulcer in old stomach. Just started protonix two days ago. Doc wants to do exploratory surgery to determine issue, but I just changed jobs and, in addition to still being on probation (at work), my new insurance won't pay my surgeon to do this surgery (he is out of coverage area - I relocated 100 miles for this new job). So I would like to wait until Nov. for any surgery. Has anyone had these issues? Any suggestions? Does my status at this point seem normal (what and how much I can eat)? Thanks. -Ken

My current favorite meal is: oysters on the half shell and a caesar salad. Also for lunch I love to have a crispy beef taco. So I don't know from one day to the next what is going to work well and what isn't but these two meals always work for me. Alice From Dallas 11/10/04 285/165

Topic: RE: hypothyroid supplement
I don't want to be all negative so I hope I don't come off that way. And I am no expert. But its not good to take those drug/supplements. I was hyperthyroid (Graves Disease) which means your body produces too much. And one side affect is weight loss, but there is also damage being done to your liver, heart and bone density. I had all the side effects, but weight loss! DAMN IT hehehe But I would just be careful. Since having radiation, I am now hypothyroid and I asked about that supplement and my doctor about freaked that I was even considering it since its so bad for you. So just please be careful and talk to your doctor and see what they say. Just my opinion. Michelle 311/169/165
