Topic: RE: help-I am stuck
Hiya Robin,
I am sorry to hear you are stuck - I can imagine how frustrating that must be for 6 months. I have some questions for you...
1. Are you following your surgeon's/nutrtitionists food intake plan? Are you staying away from the carbs and concentrating on protein and veggies? Are you taking small bites and chewing thoroughly? Are you getting in plenty of water?
2. Are you exercising? If you are maybe you can increase the time or change it up, introduce something new.
My biggest suggestion would be to seek the advise of your surgeon or nutritionist and then follow their advise.
Keep us posted on how your are doing!
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea
Topic: RE: 11 month check in.....
Hiya B,
I really look forward to your monthly questions!!! These are good ones!
1. What complications have you experienced as a result of surgery? ABSOLUTELY NONE! :D
2. How much weight have you lost total (from your highest weight)? I HAVE LOST A TOTAL OF 103 lbs
3. What percentage of your total weight to lose have you lost - (total weight loss/ total weight to lose x 100).... You can check the weight loss planner if you are unsure of how much you should weigh for your height. I HAVE LOST 103% of the weight I wanted to lose.
4. What has been your biggest loss (other than lbs) since surgery? THE ONLY LOSS I HAD OTHER THAN LBS WAS HAIR - AND IT IS GROWING BACK IN NICELY NOW.
5. What has been your proudest achievement (other than lbs lost) since surgery? MY PROUDEST ACHIEVEMENT HAS BEEN MY RUNNING. I AM SH****ED AT HOW MOTIVATING IT IS TO ME. I HAVE RUN 3 5K RACES AND IMPROVED MY TIME EACH TIME, AND I HAVE EVEN WON A TROPHY FOR 3RD PLACE IN MY AGE GROUP. ANOTHER BENEFIT OF THIS IS THAT MY CHILDREN HAVE GOTTEN INTERESTED IN RUNNING AND THERE IS NOTHING I WANT MORE THAN LIFELONG GOOD HABITS TO START NOW FOR THEM>
6. What is next goal (other than lbs)??? MY NEXT GOAL IS TO RUN IN A 5 MILE RACE - THE DATE FOR THAT IS NOVEMBER 5 - THAT IS 6 DAYS SHY OF MY 1 YEAR ANNIVERSARY.
Again, B, thanks for posting this!! I look forward to reading everyone's responses.

Congratulations on the wedding... and thank god he caught up... I'm still waiting!
Congrats on your weight loss

I agree Michelle. I was just diagnosed as having Hashimoto's disease. There is so much more to thyroid disease than I ever knew.

Topic: RE: Everybody looks so happy
Hiya Jason,
I didnt start out running. Back in December, I got an Elliptical machine because I had a bulging disc in my neck and any impact hurt it, and my knees and ankles and back hurt from the extra weight. I started doing 10 minutes the first day and I wanted to cry when I was doing it and when I was done. I did it 3 - 4 times per week adding a minute each time I did it. When I hit 20 minutes I stayed there for a few weeks, then jumped to 25 minutes. Then a few weeks later I jumped to 30 minutes. I stayed there for quite a while and then in March I decided to give running a try. My husband is an avid runner, so he helped me out with advice and guidance. I started out running very slowly for 30 minutes. I ran maybe 2 miles the first time. Then slowly I started adding distance - at the high school track. I added a 1/4 mile at a time waiting about 2 weeks before adding another. By the beginning of May I was running 3 miles on a regular basis. I ran my first 5k race at the end of May and I finished in 34 minutes and 30 seconds. I ran my second 5K in July and improved my time substantially finishing in 29 minutes and 55 seconds. I started adding more miles in 1/2 mile increments. I now regularly run 5 miles in under 50 minutes. My fastest 5K time has been 28 minutes and 4 seconds. So... anyway, to make a long story short, that is how I run!
You can do it too if you want to, just start out slow and easy and for a specific time, not a distance, and improve from there!!
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea
