Topic: RE: Where is everyone?
i have finally made it back to the boards after more than a year. I have had a rough year. I had a bout with a drinking problem for about a year. I finally have that back under control for the last 4 months. I stopped losing weight after the first year. I have gained back about 25 pounds. I am disappointed with myself. I am hoping that I can get back on track with this. It is time to starting shooting for the life that I dreamed of when I started this process.

315 high - 203 low- 228 now - 160 goal
Topic: RE: Need Help!!!
It has been a long time for me but I have finally made it back to the boards. I guess I have not been around because of the same shame. I had surgery 11-16-2004 at a starting weight of 315. My lowest weight was 203 at around the one year mark. Since then I have slowly gained weight. I am at 228 now. I am just sick about it. I think the main thing now is that I can eat so much more and eat sugar too. I have been back to drinking diet soda as well.
I felt alot of hope by reading your post. I guess I am not alone. I have to try to get back on board with the basics and try to get to my goal weight of 160.

Topic: Where is everyone?
I don't come here often, but I am wondering where everyone from 11/04 has gotten off too. Is everyone doing well? I hope so. I am doing ok. could be better, but it could be worse. Its down to the nitty gritty now of really working at it, but I am very grateful to have lost over 100lbs. Jan

22 Reasons You Might Be Fat Forever
(from eDiets.com)
Are you frustrated with being overweight, and you don't know what to do? Usually we tell you what you need to do, but, here's a twist: We're here with 22 reasons why you're failing to make progress. Don't take it as a scolding, but as inspiration to get the job done.
1. You are still looking for a quick and easy solution to weight loss.
2. You think that diet and exercise are the only essential factors involved in weight loss.
3. You have not identified the psychological reasons that drive your eating patterns.
4. You have not learned to manage or heal the psychological reasons that drive your eating patterns.
5. You have a fear of or resistance to growing up and becoming a full adult.
6. You use food as a reward or a treat after any or all stressful events.
7. You think you can lose weight without making exercise a regular part of your day, every day.
8. You think you can lose weight by doing it "your way."
9. You expect to lose weight without making significant lifestyle changes.
10. You refuse to learn to become a good receiver as well as a good giver.
11. You have never learned to be effectively and appropriately assertive.
12. you have not learned to express your anger in a healthy, honest fashion.
13. You have not learned to be self-nurturing, except with food.
14. You are excessively self-critical.
15. You refuse to take responsibility for your life.
16. You resist learning to love yourself.
17. You resist learning to love your body before it is thin.
18. You have not faced your inner fears of being thin.
19. You are certain that spirituality (a connection to a force greater than you) is irrelevant to weight loss.
20. You think you can lose significant weight without the support of others.
21. You have deep emotional wounds that you refuse to explore and heal.
22. You are not prepared to have weight be an issue that you will have to face each and every day for the rest of your life.
Anything strike a chord here? Whoah... know I am still reeling from a couple!
Happy New Year Sibs

I agree it is very hard. We see such great results and then we get to a place where we just become comfortable.
I lost all of the weight I needed to. I'm at goal. I thankfully haven't gained any back. But I weigh myself everyday to stay on top of things.
If the scale goes up I just cut carbs out and go right back to where I belong.
The problem is that we got our bodies fixed but not our heads. We still see the food, smell it and crave it.
We weren't born 200, 300, 400 or more lbs we had to do something to get to that point. Just because we lost the weight doesn't mean our problems or bad habits go along with it.
We really need to remember what got us to this point and go back to basics. Exercise, drink our water and stay away from sugars and high fat foods. Good luck and God Bless you all.

Maybe we can all help each other. How about we start letting each other know how each day goes? Hold each other accountable for working out and such? I know we'll have to be disciplined to get on the forum and fill each other in, but we can do it! If we just commit to working out somehow, even if it's for a short period of time, and if we focus on making some changes that we know we need to make - and then know that someone is checking in on us, maybe it would help.
What do you think?

Hey Tammy,
I feel you. I too have been away for some time. I have also been fighting the sweets and snacks, and am still exercising, but not as often as I know that I should. I too have been fighting with the same 8-10 pounds. I manage to lose them and more, and then something happens, and they come back. So I have made up in my mind that I am getting back on track starting tomorrow. I still have about 30 pounds to lose, but I know it will take all that I have to get there, and I will. You will too. Take care.

HI All,
I have not been on in a quite some time( shame on me ) . I have been fighting with myself and my weight for the past 6 months. I had my surgery in Nov. 04 and did really well. I got off all my meds and lost over 90lbs. I had lots of energy and felt really good. But about 6 months ago I started to feel really tierd and I stopped working out. Sence then I have put on 10 lbs and I feel like I am in a losing battle again and so . Does anyone have any suggestions or know what might get me out of this slump. My biggest fear is putting on more waight and going back to meds. PLease
