Topic: RE: Question of the Week 10-31
There are so many things that fit into the "BEST" catagory... I guess my husband being able to put his arms all the way around me and then some. Also my parents crying with JOY because they have their daughter back and seeing how happy they were. Plus all the wonderful new looks I get from the opposite sex. I am a happy married woman... but it is nice to be flirted with! The WORST was when an ignorant lady told me I HAD NO WILL POWER because I had WLS. I told her she was rude and that it took a heck of a lot of will power to have the surgery and to give up so much and go through so much! That hurt... because of her ignorance. She didn't want to listen to what I had to say! But... I know I did the right thing. I was on the path of distruction if I didn't take action! I AM PROUD OF US ALL! CONGRATULATIONS TO EACH AND EVERY ONE OF YOU! WE MADE IT A YEAR! I AM SOOOO GLAD I DID THIS! Jennifer Wright Lap RNY 11/29/04 352/190/145

Topic: Report on my 1 yr. checkup.....
I had my 1 yr. checkup today. I am doing really well according to my dr. I am aTt my dr's goal but we discussed the fact of losing 7-10 pds. more for when the "maintaining" takes effect. All of my lab came back good, my BMI is 27, he would like it around 25 and my body fat is 29% ( I thought that was kinda high!!) he would like that to be between 17 & 27%. MY cholesteral was good also. The one was 133 and the low one ( I never remember which is which!!) was 48. He said that they like that to be below 65 so I guess I'm good. I felt pretty good in the waiting area....when I was waiting for my appt., some of the others and I started talking and the one woman said to her husband "See her honey (pointing at me) I want to look like that!!" I just smiled. She even asked me if I had had a TT done and I said no. She couldn't believe it. I guess I'm lucky in that aspect. Well just wanted to let everyone know how I did. Happy Anniv. to everyone!! Hope your checkups go well!!!! Take care! Karry 311/167(at goal)/160(new goal)

Congratulations and happy anniversary to you. I also had surgery one year ago today and it has been a wonderful year, I have not had any problems and to date I have lost 128 lbs. I was hoping for a 100 lb. lost last year at this time so I am thrilled with my success. That is one thing I try and remember when I get discouraged when the pounds are coming off slow now. Good luck and continued success to you. Sheri

Best Experience: Just feeling great and being able to do and go and wear anything I want!!! It is amazing!! I feel like a teenager again!! Worst Experience: Right now, not having any clothes. It is getting cold here and I don't have a winter coat, any long sleeve shirts and very few pairs of long pants. I had just gotten my summer wardrobe bought and then we switched seasons and I have nothing to wear. I am going broke buying new clothes - but it is SOOOOO fun!!!!

For me, I know it is my thyroid. When was the last time you had your bloodwork? Did they check you TSH levels as well? If not, have your doctor do this, it might be the source. The other posters responses also make sense but since everyone is different, you may as well cover all the bases.

Hi All, I am sliding back into bad eating habits again. This is a constant battle for me. I have been feeling tired, like the lady said bone tired. I scheduled an appt with the surgeon on this Friday and have printed out some of the threads on our site. Hopefully I will get what ever I need to boost the process again. Wish me luck and I will keep you updated also. Lizzi

Congratulation Angie!!!! This board isn't a very busy one, but it's nice to see what is happening to people that had the surgery the same time. I started at 278 and am now 152 and in a size 4 or 6. I don't think at the age of 9 I could have gotten in these clothes. Isn't life wonderful Tee
