Topic: TROUBLE DEALING WITH SMALLER BODY
Does anyone feel this way? My entire life I have been fat and have truly never seen my rib, sternum, and hip bones. This past week I have noticed them quite a bit. I am 5'7", 160 pounds and medium framed. I bought size 10 jeans this weekend and felt weird. It was great to get small jeans but my mind can't catch up to my true size. I feel like I am rambling. Anyone else have these feelings? I can't put my finger on it. It's not a fear of getting too small--I enjoy food too much for that.

Topic: RE: Question of the week 11-7
I learned that it is ok for me to ask for help. That I don't have to be so self-reliant ALL the time. Which for me is really big. I don't like to ask for help alot.

Topic: Another one year anniversary here...
Hi...
Can't believe it has been a year. My life is very different now that I have lost 100 pounds. I am still not at goal... have maybe 20 to go... but if it doesn't come off I will not be unhappy. I am living again... I am moving, I am healthy, I sleep well, I am not on any meds but vitamins, etc.
I fit in regular sizes, instead of shopping in plus sizes. THAT makes me really happy. And I think that I am more confident in the person I am... it takes alot of energy trying to "make up" for being obese. Now I put that extra energy into doing my job well, and in being more outgoing. I don't have to be so worried about "me" now. Have you all had that experience?
Anyway, I am glad that I had the surgery. I was blessed not to have all the complications that many others had. I struggled with nausea and diarrhea for awhile... but it was worth it.
Hope you all have another great year, and that for those of us still above our goal weight, I pray that we will make the most of these next 6 months before the "magic window" closes!
God bless you all,
lynnie
Topic: RE: 1 year check in.... WHOooooooo Hoooooooooo!
Happy anniversary and congratulations to all you November babes! Life has changed sooooo much in the past year, I feel as if I have truly been reborn!
Thank you, Sphinxy One, for your questionaire. It's just what I was looking for to recognize this wonderful month.
1. How much weight have you lost total? 141 lbs., from 316 to 175, my BMI went from 49.4 to 27.4.
2. How many years ago were you at the weight you are now (how old were you)? 28 years ago, shortly after we got married.
3. Has weight loss made a difference in your career? I'm more outspoken at work. The way you get treated by strangers? I'm not 'noticed' anymore and I like that. By friends? To there credit they treat me the same. By family? They are just really happy for me and my husband can't hug me without saying "I can't believe how little you are!"
4. If your total weight loss now is all that you achieve... are you satisfied with that??? disappointed??? pleasantly surprised that you have achieved what you have??? If I never lose another lb. I will be thrilled with where I have gotten.
5. When you sit down to eat, if you serve yourself, do you take up a portion that is very close to what you will eventually eat??? overfill your plate??? have to go back for seconds?? I almost always overfill my plate or over pack my lunch bag.
Hugs to you all! Kathi
(P.S. I have new before and after photos on my profile)

Topic: RE: What should my goal weight be?
I initally decided on my goal weight based on the BMI calculator. KNowing that I have a big bone structure, I went with the high side of healthy, which is approx 150-155 based on my height.
But....I recently went for my first PS consult and that surgeon informed me that i have acquired quite a bit of muscle mass from my exercising and probably can not get down that low prior to PS. He stated that I only have about another 10 lbs or so left to lose.
I am going to check with my surgeon (as he has a scale that also measures fat % in his office) to see how true this really is. And I will see what other plastic surgeons say.
I suggest aim for healthy first and then get your surgeons input. They should have an idea of how much more fat you are carring versus it being excess skin.

How does one figue out what their goal weight is?
I am currently 6'1, 203 pounds. Small frame... Whats good for me? I was thinking about 190... But Making it down to 190 is going to be hard with all this extra skin weighting against me.
How did you determine what your goal weight was going to be?
