Topic: RE: How much weight have you lost?
OMG I should have come here a WEEK ago!! I've been KICKING myself for TOO LONG!!
I just love you guys!!
My surgiversary is this Saturday and I'm down 125#.. also have seen a marked slow-down in my loss but it makes me feel much better to know that so many are in the same boat and at about the same loss totals..
I have about 55# to get to my surgeon's goal and 90# to get to mine. I still don't feel like it's beyond possible and I'm so happy. Yesterday I put on a pair of size 18 jeans. EIGHTEEN!! I haven't worn an 18 jeans since I was in high school!!
Congratulations to everybody!!

Topic: RE: What should my goal weight be?
Jason,
I'm currently 5'11 and weigh about 225. My inital goal weight that I set for myself was 175 or abouts. But now I would be happy to get like 195-200. You don't want to get to skinny and look unhealthy. For myself I still see me as being huge in a large or 1x shirt because, I get to see my stomach with out a shirt on, but everyone else tells me I look wonderful and normal. it is all about personal preference I think. If I don't loose another pound I'll be happy were I'm at. But I hope and pray I loose this last 30lbs!

Call your doctor! I don't think it is normal! I hope you have already!

Topic: RE: Question of the week 11-7
I guess I have learned the real "value" of my life. I can't imagine myself 1 year ago 146 pds. heavier than I am now. My 1 year anniv. was yesterday. WOO-HOO!!
Knowing now what a difference the weight loss has made in SO many ways. Not only on the outside but I think the biggest change was my mental aspect. Knowing now there is nothing I can't do. That I have defeated my "food demon"
To have goals and complete them!!! What a feeling!!!
Not saying it's not a great feeling putting on a pair of 9/10 jeans and they are loose, because that's awesome too. Starting with a size 26!! WOW!
Also I seem to handle things better....ya know stress of everyday life. Sick kids, work issues, etc....I just seem to have more patience. (at least I think I do!!
)
Anyway, my 1 year has been a success and hope the coming year is too. Wishing you all a great day and take care!!

Topic: RE: 1 year check in.... WHOooooooo Hoooooooooo!
1. How much weight have you lost total? 103lbs since surgery, 136lbs from highest weight
2. How many years ago were you at the weight you are now (how old were you)?? About 22 years ago when I was 23
3. Has weight loss made a difference in your career?? the way you get treated by strangers??? by friends???? by family???? I think for the most part I am treated the same. Friends and family never treated me like I was fat and not sure that I ever noticed strangers treating me different if anything it was probably in my head.
4. If your total weight loss now is all that you achieve... are you satisfied with that??? disappointed??? pleasantly surprised that you have achieved what you have??? I would like to lose about 15 to 20lbs more but would be happy where I am at with plastics
5. When you sit down to eat, if you serve yourself, do you take up a portion that is very close to what you will eventually eat??? overfill your plate??? have to go back for seconds?? I don't think I over fill my plate but I eat so fast that I can never eat as much as I should.

Topic: RE: TROUBLE DEALING WITH SMALLER BODY
Hi Ginny,
I am also having problems thinking or seeing myself as skinny. When I do laundry and go to fold my pants or underwear I still think there is no way those fit me. Like the other posters I think alot of the problem has to do with all the hanging skin. I still have about 15-20lbs more that I want to lose before plastics. I am also 5'7" and down to 172lbs can't wait until I hit the 160s
I am sure that our heads will eventually catch up.
Teresa

1. How much weight have you lost total?
-----about 115 total. 100 since surgery
2. How many years ago were you at the weight you are now (how old were you)??
-----probably 30+ year, best I can figure it would have been in Jr. High.
3. Has weight loss made a difference in your career?? the way you get treated by strangers??? by friends???? by family????
-----I'm not good at taking compliments so sometimes the attention is overwhelming - I've noticed that people don't wait at the top/bottom of the stairs for me to pass anymore
4. If your total weight loss now is all that you achieve... are you satisfied with that??? disappointed??? pleasantly surprised that you have achieved what you have???
-----I'm 5-10 lbs from the doc's goal (5 lbs to fluctuate around) but I'd love to loose another 15-20, but if it doesn't happen I'd be happy right where I am now. I'm healthy and that's what I was looking for.
5. When you sit down to eat, if you serve yourself, do you take up a portion that is very close to what you will eventually eat??? overfill your plate??? have to go back for seconds??
-----ususally at home I take what I can eat but if I'm out and everything looks good I end up with way more than I can eat.
Congrats to all on their accomplishments. The year went by so fast and we've all done such a great job. good luck on the next step
