Hi Laura, A Typical day for me is eating cereal in morning. Either Quaker Weight Control oatmeal or Special K low carb w/ skim milk. I add raisins to both. Occassionally I'll have eggs. Lunch~ depends on the day. But I always try to get protein in first. Then veggies if possible. Dinner~same as lunch. I can eat anything, beef, pork, chicken. I only eat whole wheat pasta. And not often. I eat bread sometimes but only whole grains. As for snacks... sugar free cookies,sf pudding, lots of fruit, pretzels, nuts. I try to be conscience of the serving sizes and make myself stop. I don't drink anything w/ carbonation. Only crystal light or decaf tea. No sugar ever. I do get hungry (head hunger) I just grab a piece of fruit. I don't think I ever got fat eating too much fruit. LOL. I try to stay busy so i'm not tempted to eat. Now exercise...i'm not as good as I should be. I went to the gym twice this week. I walk about 20 minutes on a treadmill or longer if I can. I do the crunch machines and work on my arms and legs with the machines at the gym. I try to walk whenever I can. I park further away at malls, supermarkets etc. So I have to walk more. I hope this helps you. I wish luck on your journey and thru the holidays!! ~Angel 255/222/130/120

Hi Amy, I'm so sorry that you're going through such a tough time. As for the vitamins, I currently take 1 calcium pill (citracal), 1 iron(prescription),2 multivitamins,2500mg biotin(strenghtens hair, nails,&skin) and B12 twice a week under the tongue. I eat about 3 meals a day and I snack a couple of times a day. My snacks consist of fruit or sugar free cookies(no more than 3),pretzels, sf pudding, etc. If you don't think you are getting enough protein definitely drink protein shakes. It's very important to get enough protein. You can become very ill if not. I hope things go well with the dr on monday. Keep us posted. Good luck and God bless! ~Angel 255/222/130/120

I did really well last night (11/11/05). Well.. I did well the whole day. I didn't snack and I stayed full. I went to bed early... like 9:30. For some reason I was tired. I did work out and today I feel great. I have had 40 oz of liquid so far and I had some left over chicken for breakfast along with some grapes. I get off work soon and I am going to do some yard work before my football game begins. Then I will have a South Beach Diet Pizza. Have you had them? They are great, very filling and high in protein. I went to the grocery store last night and bought everything I needed to make sure I stay full of protein and I will not stray! Your right... my mother's cousin had WLS years and years ago and then she had Roux N Y this past year... they had to re-do it. She had gained all of it plus more back. I don't want that to happen to me. That is why I come to this site for support. Almost every day when I am at work I log on some time to check this site out. It helps me focus on what I am doing or need to do to get back into the swing of things. Hope ya'll are having a great weekend. Enjoy your day. Thanks so much for the advice and support. It is always appreciated from me! Jen

Jen- I know what you mean about the posting. It has slowed down but it's also because we are out there, not hiding behind our computers anymore. Life sure is busy these days, for me anyways. I read on to how you were doing yesterday, sounds like you were doing well. Me, well last night I fell a bit and had a couple of mini snickers bars. UGH!!! Today has been better so far, then again it's only lunchtime! Late night is ALWAYS my roughest time. I know I can do this, and so can you. As for the person, 10 years later looking at banding, you have to remember that 10, even 5 years ago, people were having this surgery done, and were never told really what to eat, hence all the dieticians and such now. Alot of people had this surgery, lost the weight, and then enver changed their eating habits and regained it all back. Plus the actual procedure changed quite a bit in the past 10 years. They used to just staple the stomach instead of completely dissecting it and the staplpes would often come out giving the person a "whole" stomach again. Well good luck, I hope that together we can be strong. Janet

Topic: URGENT: I'm sinking and need help!!
Hi I'm Amy and yesterday was my 1 year anniverary. I have lost 106lbs to date. I have not lost any in months. I started at 285 and am now 179. Here is my problem. I have never been back to my surgeon since I had my staples out. I have had many problems with the surgery since the beginning. Better now though. I have no idea what vitamins I should be taking. I am taking 2 multivitamins daily--or at least sometimes. I have lost ALL muscle due to insufficient protein. And even worse yet--I eat 1 or 2 meals a day only and I eat chocolate the rest of the day. Probably 4 times a day. I dont know how to stop myself and I am scared. I dont know how much protien a day I should be getting. It use to be 60 a day I think in the beginning--does it stay the same? I finally broke down and made an appointment with my surgeon on Monday. I am so nervous, not knowing what he will say. Also, I am bipolar and have had many problems with this over the past year. I believe I am getting stable now. I think this has contributed to my destructive behavior. Any advice or info I should be doing? Please help me. Thank-you, Amy

Hello everyone and happy anniversary to all the November surgeries!!! I have been reading many of the posts and I identify with how many of you feel, the struggles, head hunger, etc. I would like to ask everyone what a typical day of eating is like for you? I would like as many people as possible to post responses as I think it will be useful to all of us. What works? What sets you back the most? What about exercise? How much exercise are you doing and what kind of exercise are you doing? Nobody can understand the frustrations over slow weight loss, weight flucuations, head hunger, guilt over eating something wrong or wanting to, joy over losing weight, etc. like others in the same cir****tance. It would be very helpful to me personally to hear this from my "WLS" family. Especially with upcoming holidays and new challenges to face. I thank all of you in advance who will post replys. Hope everyone is feeling well, happy and healthy! Sincerely, Laura
