Topic: RE: After 1 year out... what are you thankful for?
I have been thankful for alot of things. I am thankful that I have my life. I started this journey at 516 lbs. I didn't realize how unhealthy I was till I started going to doctors. I've lost 180 lbs in one year. I have come along way. I am thankful for my doctor (Dr. Marvin), because he has answered every question that I've had. I am thankful to God because he had this surgery planned for me, and I believe that he helped me get healthy to serve him. I believe my purpose in life is to serve my Lord, my Savior. God created the world, and created me and my family and God gave me the cir****tance of changing my life for the better. I am so happy and spiritually fulfilled. I just want to share this with all who are november anniversaries. Thanks Ramon Castro 516/335/275

Thanks so much Fern/Ellen, Congrats on your 100 pound weight loss...doesn't it feel grand? If you have the time...check the yahoo link on my profile for before/after pics. What a difference!! Just as a note, I have been around but have not been on the DS Board. In the early days us few VG'ers (or VSG as it's also called) hung around the DS board because we had similar stomach anatomy and more in common than with the RNY's. However, on the OH d/s board I found a rabid bias in favor of the d/s (to be expected) and lack of tolerance and support for any other surgery or anyone else's choices (unexpected). Not to mention trashing of first rate surgeons (mine in particular) who offer multiple surgical options. There is also now a VSG board on OH...we are a pretty tolerant group. Come say hello. I am a mature woman who made a very concious and studied choice in surgery and traveled to one of the best medical centers in the country. I am thrilled with my choice and the result and resent being told repeatedly that I will definitely fail without the d/s. So...without ranting..that's why I never go to the d/s board anymore. Best to you, Jo VG 11/10/04 350/331/213/1?? HW/SW/CW/G

Topic: Today's my RE-birthday:)
Wow, what a year it has been!! A wonderful and amazing year As of today, I have lost 120lbs since the day of surgery (258-138) and I feel great. I've surpassed the surgeon's goal for me some 12lbs ago, but would like to find myself around 130 before working on maintaining. Today, I bought a pair of size 8 pants and several size medium shirts and they all fit great...some a little loose. I had my bloodwork done for my appt on Nov. 21st and of all the tests that have come back, everything looks great. Still waiting on a few, but I have no doubts they will reveal the same. My WOW moments this year have been the gift of self-confidence and self-esteem returning to me, my hubby carrying my in the "threshold" way around the house with ease!!, seeing my eyes in pictures again instead of squinty slits that are being absorbed by chubby cheeks! LOL, and so many other wonderful things. I am healthy and happy and grateful to be where I am today. I would do this surgery a million times over again if I had to!! My recovery was a breeze, had a stricture at week 5, but was fixed quickly and I've been on the go ever since. I cannot believe how much more fun life is now! Well, I just wanted to share about my re-birthday. Today, we took my son on a field trip to the fire station, stopped and ate Japanese for lunch, went shopping (for the size 8 pants!), went shopping again for the shirts since I was so psyched about the pants! LOL, got dressed really nice, went out for dinner and then off again to buy myself a pair of shoes and a new bra It's been a GREAT day!! I will post some new pics to my profile from today's events, so they should be on in a couple weeks. Thanks to all of you for your support over the last year+!! What a trip it has been and will surely continue to be Erica 258/138/130ish

Dear Jo Ellen, So good to see you. I haven't seen you on the DS board at all...where've you been? Just because you moved East doesn't mean you can't visit. Great to see your weight loss. I'm just down 100 pounds as of yesterday. So I guess I'm a Century Club member now. Anyway, please stay connected. Warmest regards, Fern (Ellen - really) B. 267/167/150 (who knows?) P.S. You look great!

Topic: After 1 year out... what are you thankful for?
Hey guys... I just thought I would find out from you how you are feeling at what you are Thankful for after being one year post op. I think this is the perfect time to reflect these feelings being that it is close to Thanksgiving.... I am feeling great! Had a set back but now everything is wonderful again. I know I can do it! I have come sooo far and I am so proud of myself. I am thankful for God, my hubbie, my family and my kitty kitty. I am greatful for my home, my wonderful fun job and transportation. I am also thankful that I am alive and I have my health now. I think right now the biggest thing I am thankful for is that the Dr.'s gave me the O.K. to get pregnant. I have wanted to be a mother for sooo long and now I can see it around the corner! I can't wait. OH~ I am thankful for this support system. I don't know how I would have made it through this year without my OH.com!!!!! So... what are you guys thankful for today? Jen

I treated myself to a new hair style and color. It was fun! I have always been very blonde and needed a change. I put some gold and red highlights in and I love it!! I would have never taken the chance of messing with my hair last year! This year I just wanted a change!!!!
