Topic: RE: Teach me -
Pamela, I can't help you with the profile thing.. I had OH volunteers do it for me and I just update it. I might be able to shed a little hope on your kitty situation though. I had a cat named Addison for 12 years. He was healthy as an ox and completely indoor so he didn't "catch" his renal problem. He lost a lot of weight and wasn't eating well and throwing up all the time, so I took him to the hospital where he was diagnosed with acute renal failure. The vet gave him three weeks, on the outside, to live. I was devastated. I called another vet and asked if they would see him.. for a second opinion.. they did and they confirmed the diagnosis, but not the prognosis. That vets taught me to hydrate my cat, subcutaneously, at home. He was put on tube food (this malt stuff he licked off my finger or off his own paw) for a short time and a 1/2 tablet of pepcid along with some liquid vitamins. Sometimes he needed no treatment.. sometimes he needed treatment for up to two weeks at a time. I always watched him closely and when he started to refuse treatment, I knew he was ready to go on his own. I was also careful to watch for signs of discomfort in general.. he never gave any.. he just moved slowly and cuddled a lot. He outlived his prognosis by 5 full years and he died at home where he was comfortable and relaxed. I have since helped other friends learn this simple, painless treatment for the care of their beloved cats suffering from renal failure. Be sure to ask your vet about learning how and doing treatments at home, if that's an option. You are (of course) in my prayers! Stef

Topic: RE: SAGGY!!!!
I totally know where you are coming from. I feel like my stomach is bigger than before! I know it isn't but all of this saggy crap is really bringing me down!! I did just go out and buy some tummy tucker panties and that seems to help! At least from the outside of my clothes!!!! Unfortunately I know I am heading for a tummy tuck and boob job! After gaining an extra 150 pounds, nursing 2 kids, and then loosing the weight, I don't think my body will be so willing to bounce back!!!! But, what do you do?! I wouldn't gain the 80 pounds I've lost back for anything!!!!

Topic: SAGGY!!!!
Wow!! I am quite saggy....lol!!! I have lost alot in my belly area, but now down in my lower stomach, there does seem to be quite alot of extra baggage. I am also saggy in the chest area....I thought it was bad before, from having children, but geesh, I hope it tones out more as I go along. My upper arms are the same way. I look like I have bat wings when I hold my arm up. So, I am sure we are all suffering this saggy syndrome. I have heard that as long as you exercise, the sagginess will start toning up more. Not all the way, but quite alot, especially if you are younger. (I am 32) So, does the sagginess continue until you get closer to goal and then the toning MAY happen?? Does anyone know?? I am trying my darndest to get rid of this belly because I really don't want to get a tummy tuck, I don't want the surgery, but I tell ya, if it keeps getting worse and no better, sign me up!! Teresa

Topic: RE: How many carbs?
Well, I don't eat very many carbs, although I don't keep track. I eat mostly protein still. Last night I made a lower carb sloppy joe, but I just put some in a bowl and skipped the bun. I eat mostly meat, and if I DO have something else, I make sure I eat my protein first. I have a scoop (maybe 2 TBSP) of potatoes here and there, but I ALWAYS eat my meat first. That way I am filled up on the protein, and not too hungry for the other. Michelle, you are doing great!!! You should be very proud of how well you have done so far!! I hate the plateaus, but they do pass, and 90 pounds is AWESOME!!! Teresa

Topic: RE: How many carbs?
If you are a big pasta eater then you could switch to whole wheat pasta. I personally like Dreamfields brand. It still has carbs but not as many. Because it's whole wheat it has more fiber which digests differently in your body. But still you should limit how much of it you eat. Anything white(white bread, flour, pasta etc) is bad for you. I don't know how many carbs a day I consume because I don't count calories or carbs. I just limit myself to what I eat. I had my first bread in 5 months last week. I had toasted whole wheat w/ tuna salad. I only ate half the sandwich. Other than that I don't eat bread. Very rarely do I have rice. And if I do not much of it. As for potatoes, well that's my weakness. I do eat them but again, I try to eat my meat and veggies first and they only a little of the potatoes. I gave potato chips of any kind since surgery. I don't want to fall into that routine again. Just try to get in your proteins first and hopefully you will be too full to eat that much of the carbs afterward. ~Angel 222/156/120 BMI 30.5

I'm 5ft.5inches tall(since the 5th grade!!!).My weight on the day of surgery was 262lbs.I'm now at 201lbs.That makes -61 lbs gone(YAHOO!!!).One of the main reasons I had this surgery was to get off my many meds(I used to take 7 different kinds each day).I'm now taking 1 pill for diabetes. My PCP said that I could possibly be MED-FREE by May!!!!! I'm so thankful fot this surgery.I would do it again,a million times over!!!! Take Care, Paula 262/201/150ish?
