Topic: RE: Nov Babes... what % of excess weight have you lost??
Hi there, I have lost 61% of my excess weight. However, I was really sick for a while and that increased my weight lose over the first 6 months (Sunday is my 6 month anniversary). Not a fun ride! And now my weight loss has stalled. WAH! My doctor's office already told me I was a "success" by their standards, but I want to lose about another 50 pounds. I still feel huge. 358/238/??? Thanks! Tish

Topic: Struggling with depression????
I have been doing some research on depression (since so many have suggested that this may be an issue for me.... I wonder why : ) Here's a WOW fact for me: Most depressed people self-medicate themselves They use alcohol, drugs, sex or FOOD!!!! So guess what - if an underlying problem is depression and you can no longer self medicate with food.... and you don't substitute with either drugs, alcohol or sex.... you could find yourself smack dab in the middle of a major depressive episode..... DUH! (didn't even see that coming!) Is it possible that I have been depressed and self-medicating for over 30 yrs of my life???? Well, I am off to the shrink to try and get some answers!!! (So much more than just a physical journey!) B

Topic: Nov Babes... what % of excess weight have you lost??
I know we all started out from different places and some of us have a farther than others so I thought it would be interesting to focus on the % of excess weight we have lost. If you don't know how to do this you can find the BMI calculator and from there the weight planner on the main page and it will do some of this for you. Take the weight you have lost total to date - divide it by the total excess weight you had at the beginning (highest weight) and multiply by 100 = % of excess weight lost. (Interestingly enough the average bariatric patient tends to lose 60 - 70% of excess weight and this is considered a successful outcome .... so the goal of 100% of excess weight may not be realistic for all of us) How close are you to being labelled a weight loss success??..... or how close are you to 70%??? From my highest weight in September at surgeons consult I have lost 48% of my excess weight...... almost half...... bearing down on that 70% mark. B

Topic: My friends did not recognize me!!
I have some very good friends in FL. I haven't seen them since last November pre-surgery, we vacationed together just days before my surgery as a matter of fact. I was meeting them at ESPN one evening, my son had already joined them. As I was walking up my son said "here she comes." When my friends kept saying "Where?". Almost up until I was in front of them. I was then asked where the other half of me went! I filled up with tears, I was so happy. What a wonderful feeling, I know I was looking better but boy you never really know how much until that happens. I can't wait to see my friends from CA this July, hopefull I wil be down another 20 or so. That will be so sweet. I also added it up and in another 49lbs, it will be half of me gone.

I had a wonderful time. Did you know those "lap" bars are actually supposed to touch your lap? Well this time they did, not that I had a lap before! We did a couple days at Universal Studios/Islands of adventure and I fit in all the coasters!! I had so much fun. The folks at all the restaraunts were wondeful once I explained the bypass. I was able to order from kids menu most of the time, no problem. The exception was of course buffets and the California Grille. I opted to order a full meal just for the taste of a truly gourmet meal. Here again the chef was wonderful, he actually talked to me to make sure what I could or could not eat. This was one of the best vacations I have had ever!

AIN'T IT GRAND!!! I just got back from Universal Studios/Islands of Adventure in Florida and I nearly cried when I fit in the seats. I started out at 347 and am now 223. I still had to test the seat outside and when I fit I was SOO happy. My family even braved the front seat line so I could experience that too. I honestly could not perceive myself as small enough to fit in the seat.

97 is great! I do know how frustrating being that close is. I am at 98 myself and seem to be holding, I know it will move eventually. I am hoping to hit 100 by my 6mos but in the meantime I am enjoying life.
