Topic: RE: Weight Loss slowing down 5mos post op
Hi,
I have been a slow loser all along so i cant really say it has slowed down now.
You and I had surgery on the same day....... I have lost a total of 65 lbs.
I started at 260 and now i am 195.
I was upset about how slow in the beginning but now i am adjusting .
I am averaging about 10 lbs a month so i figure in 10 months thats 100 lbs.
How about you,,,,, where did you start and how much have you lost?
Dont get disgusted with it being slow,,, it will all come off eventually.

I'm so glad you are following up on this - I'm positive I've been covring up depression with food & right now - with all the stresses - I've been eating tons (well lots) of SF candy - which is my new addiction - that weirdly stays in the guidelines of what I can have - Yes... it gives me the runs - but "I feel better" RIGHT - love how I can rationalize myself into beleiving I'm "helping" - geez...
My kindest loving thoughts go with you - to the shrink. Think I'll take the couch next to you Many hugs.

Hi there!!
I have lost 65% of my excess weight so far. I still haven't lost anything for the last 6 weeks....but my body fat went down! I am still waiting very impatiently for the scale to dip! I was so determined to be a 100% sucess! Now I think I'd be happy to lose 90-95% of the weight!! We all just have to wait and see!!

I think many of us are in your same situation in one way or another. Many people become addicted to food, just as they become addicted to drugs, alcohol, etc. It is very important that you have realized this and are seeking help! On another board that I frequent, a woman traded her addiction for food for an addiction to cocaine. So, it can be a very scary problem, I am soooo proud of you for recognizing it and taking care of yourself!! I think my new addiction is shopping! I always joke that instead of being addicted to food, I am now a shopping addict. I'll be skinny, but I'll be poor!!! lol!!! If you find the answers let me know!! lol! A

I have lost 62% of my excess weight. According to the weightloss planner I am just a touch ahead of schedual to meeting my goal at my 1 year aniversary!! I was loosing 15 pounds a month but now it is 10-12 so I am sure it will continue to slow a bit. I need to loose about 2 pounds a week to meet my goal of 135 at 1 year, so I hope my weight loss doesn't slow much more!!! I feel like a new person at 188. I can't even imagine the 135 mark - that's highschool weight!! lol!!
Sounds like everyone is doing a great job!!!! Keep up the good work!!!! A

Well with the excess weight I want to lose (230lbs) I have lost 54% of my excess weight. WOOHOO! hadn't seen it like that. If I lose all of the weight I want, I will be at 85% loss of excess weight.

Hey B,
I just got back from my 6mo. checkup and I have lost 60% of my total excess weight. The surgeon says that most people don't reach this mar****il around 8-9 mos. out. I'm really striving to loose a total of 108 lbs. I really want to do it. It's not that far out of reach - I'm now down 65lbs. My surgeon's goal for me is to weigh 150 but I would like to see 135. We'll see. Keep up the great work everyone!!

Lisa,
Your trip sounds so great. My family and I are going to Universal Studios/Islands of adventure the second week in June. Your great experience has made me even more excited to go! I'm so glad you had a good time!
