Hey Susan,
That is a great side benefit! I know that my husband and I have really enjoyed a lot better sex life. And I know a lot has to do with already losing so much weight, but I think another part of it is that I am more comfortable with myself. We have been together since I weighed maybe 160ish and then I doubled in size so I never thought that would have been an issue with us. But I think it really was a problem that I had in my head. Know what I mean? So I agree it is another great benefit

Topic: Going to see long lost family- out of town
Hi folks!
So, I've been nervous about several things since I am going to go and attend my brother's wedding in a couple of days which requires me to travel from the midwest to the west coast.
Besides me being concerned/worried/recognizing my health limitations about existing health issues, I also have specific WLS worries and I was hoping that some of you may have some tips.
Some of my 'worries' are dealing with family inquires regarding my weight loss/health, my change in eating habits (like not drinking while eating, only taking a couple of bites during a course, etc.) and what I will actually be able to eat while traveling.
Family:
I've only told a handful of friends and family that I've had surgery and I made them promise not to gossip or 'spread' the news. However, that doesn't mean that they followed my request.
I've been heavy for the majority of my life and I am a lot thinner than the last time most of these people have seen me. I'm not close and/or I'm not on friendly terms with half of my family and I don't want them to know I had surgery as its not any of their business and typically any personal news about me they use to say crap about me, to make them feel superiour, to make jokes, etc. I don't want to lie, I'm morally against lying, plus I'm a horrible liar. So, anyone have suggestions for how to handle inquiries, jerks, etc. and avoid lying, denying, etc.? I just want to be prepared as that makes me emotionally stronger and I'm going to do my best to avoid the creeps that unfortunately for me are family members.
Food:
I will be bringing protein bars and drink mixes and be staying with my aunt who had the RNY surgery over a year ago. I'm just concerned when I go to the wedding what to do as it's going to be various dishes over several courses and that's a long time to go without drinking and it will definately show my eating habits (which is fine- I'm just concerned about not having liquids for the majority of the day). Any suggestions?
Thanks so much- sorry if this is a rambling post! (I'm posting this as urgent as I'm leaving shortly and would love any advice)

Topic: size 14
OMG!! I busted my butt mulching this weekend and managed to lose 3lbs this week! I tried on a pair of size 14 jeans that I've had in my drawer for literally 11 years (why did I save them anyway???) and they fit! I could even zip and button them! Finally, a major goal reached. I'm really happy! Hope you all had a great weekend!

Michelle,
What a wonderful job you have done - with your weight loss, with your profile, with your attitude towards life!
Remember you know yourself better than anyone.... if you can't have just a little bit and be done.... you might not want to start. Whatever you do, as someone reminded me, its time to get out of the "diet" mode and think instead of lifestyle changes. When you look at it that way, it kinda makes a difference. If its something you can't live without, then you might have to figure a way you can include it without sabotaging your progress. If not, its something you leave alone forever.
Just remember what a great job you have already done... you are in control and can make good choices.... I can't wait for you to start dating.... do tell!!!!
Have fun

LOL.......I messed up......LOL Anyways, I agree with you no bread, potatoes, or rice. My nuitritionst wants me to eat 100 grams of carbs per day. I tally what I eat every day using the fitday program I bought from their web site. I was told to stay under 1,100 calories per day, too. I am 100 lbs down and feeling good. Topic: Magic Numbers...
So I know everyones surgeon and or nutritionist has specific requirements, plans, or numbers to live by. What works for you, what is your cut off, requirement, tolerance, etc.
My 2 magic numbers are : Sugar 7 or less and Carbs 9 or less preferably under 5.
I have not gone over 7g of Sugar, so far that does not affect me, and I do not want to know if I can tolerate more. After 6 mnths of no bread, pasta, rice, chips (except carb option or soy crisps)...I do not miss them so I am doing good with my carbs as well.
I guess I notice in alot of posts on the main board about foods they are eatting and so many eat bread, wraps, pizza....I worry that once I get back into something I won't be able to control it or that I will stop losing weight and I'm not done yet!
