Topic: RE: Magic Numbers...
Hiya Michelle,
For the most part I stay away from bread, pasta, rice, potatoes, and especially sugar. I do have a slice of pizza or 1/2 a wrap once in a while. I dont eat all the bread of it though. With the pizza I might have 3 - 4 bites of a VERY thin slice and then I just eat the cheese off the top. I usually have some salad with it also. With the wrap, I do the same thing - have 3 - 4 bites of the wrap and then unwrap it and eat the insides. I have been doing this for at least 2 months and I have not had any desire to increase anything and I have continued to lose weight. If I thought I wouldnt be able to control it I wouldnt have any at all. That is what I am doing with sweets (my major major downfall). I do have some Sugar Free Recees Peanut Butter cups (and I have for at least 4 months now****ep a bag or two in the house and once in a while I will have 2. 2 is enough and is thoroughly enjoyable for me. In the past, before the surgery, when I dieted my downfall would always be saying oh.. I am doing so good, I can have 1 bite of this brownie and I would. But next time it would be 2 bites and before I knew it I was eating the whole brownie, and then I was back to my old habits. I have an issue, or addiction, or whatever you want to call it, to sugary foods. That is one reason why I didnt want the lap band - I would still be physically able to eat sugar. I cant with the RNY - I know what happens when I have something even a LITTLE sugar and I am NOT going there - EVER. So anyway I havent even answered your question about my surgeoen's plan for me because he hasnt given me numbers - I have given them to myself. Nothing with more than 2 g of sugar and nothing with more than 10 grams of carbs. Been doing great this way - but I do follow what he says I should and shouldnt eat.
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea

Topic: RE: Getting worried...am I behind?
Hiya Amy,
You cant base your weight loss on other people's weight loss - we are all different. I have lost 86 lbs - but I am way beyond where I thought I would be. I have 14 lbs to lose to get to goal! I have lost 86% of my excess weight. Some people have lost lots more than me - some have lost less but we have all lost LOTS of WEIGHT!! Could you ever have imagined in your wildest dreams that you could lose 82 lbs in 6 months?? I thought it would take much longer - I was figuring on MAYBE being this far at the 1 year mark. These last 14 lbs though are going to be tough. My losing is very slow now but it is going to happen. I follow Dr.'s orders on my food/water intake and I exercise 3 - 4 times per week. There is no way it isnt going to come off so however long it takes I am fine with that. I am so thankfull for all that I have lost so far - I am SOOOO much healthier and I look so much better also. I have to say that even if I didnt lose any more (although I know I will) I would be very happy with where I am at. I am 1 lb above havning a normal BMI (136) and I am 5 lbs above the top weight range for women of my height with a medium build (118-132) and I am 14 lbs from my ultimate goal - that would make me a century club member!
Well I guess what I am trying to say is dont sweat it (or maybe do sweat it if you are exercising, lol) the weight will come off if you are following your doctor's orders!
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea

Topic: Who has joined Curves?
I am thinking about joining "Curves". I called and made an appointment to go in and tour the facility and talk about my goals but they would not tell me the enrollment fee or how much the monthly cost is! That kinda made me mad... so I need ya'lls help!
Can you guys help me with this?
If you have joined Curves... what do you pay per month and how much was the enrollment fee?
Thank you guys!!!

I've stopped - at 70 pounds- have been here for WEEKS - think I need to kick start myself with a good bike ride or a run or something - will be interesting to see where everyone else is... I'm a little discouraged at my loss - but the inches keep coming off & I feel healthy - so... I count those blessings

I havent been on this page for a while, so please forgive me...I noticed that quite a few of you have lost 100lbs or more. I'm getting worried. I've only lost 82lbs so far. Am I way behind? I started at 285 and am now 203. I'd love to get an update on where everyone is right now.
Thanks alot,

Topic: RE: Going to see long lost family- out of town
Hi Jennifer,
If you feel the need to explain the weight loss without lying why don't you just tell them you have seen a doctor and he has put you onto a new way of eating and exercise plan. This has helped you to lose the weight. It wouldn't be a lie it just would not include the part of surgery. If someone asks outright if you had surgery would be the only time you would need to think how you would like to answer them. If you don't want anyone to know you can just go on like you didn't hear them or just start talking about something else. Sorry I wasn't able to help you more. Enjoy your brother's wedding and have a good time.
