Topic: RE: Getting worried...am I behind?
Yup Amy...we are all different and all doing well I think.
I have only lost 68...the 22nd will be my 6 month anniversary and I would love to be farther along but I'm not complaining...I was only hoping to get to a size 14 and now my 12's are starting to fall off me.
We will all get there in our own due time.

Topic: Pushing the rules...
Hey guys,
Today I am 6 months, 1 day post op. I am about 35-45lbs from goal, which is awesome. I see my surgeon on Friday for my 6 month appt and can't wait to hear what he thinks Everything is going well, but I have to admitt I am slipping up a bit. When I eat, I take a sip or two of drink to rinse my mouth. It seems I am hungry faster when I do that though. I am also snacking, something my surgeon says is a major no-no. I am getting so used to this new life, I am not doing as well as I should be about following the rules. I do take all of my vitamins daily and get my water intake in, along with protein, but I just am not focused on it anymore. I used to know how many protein grams I had at any point in the day and now I am estimating. Is this normal? Are any of you getting this comfortable post op? I am feeling great and often forget I even had weight loss surgery, if that makes sense. Anyway, just posting about this because I am wondering if anyone else is pushing the rules like drinking with a meal or not waiting the hour after eating to drink or eating crackers before the peanut butter....LOL I think I am doing fine, but I think my appetite is increasing. I am not satisfied for as long anymore, so I might need to increase my food intake. How much are you guys eating? Sometimes I feel like I eat way too much but then when I look at it in perspective, I am only eating until I am satisfied. Sorry for the rambling post but just wondering if any of you are experiencing the end of the "honeymoon". My weight loss is stalled right now. Actually had a gain of several pounds which I lost in a couple days. Of course, I think it was water weight because increasing my water flushed it right out. Thanks for reading if you made it this far!!

Pamela,
You'll find a job. You're doing a good job of keeping a good attitude about all of this. It will all work out and maybe you'll learn to relax and enjoy being home for a little while. It will give you the opportunity to concentrate on exercising and planning a new summer wardrobe! Keep your chin up and know that I'm sending you all good thoughts.
Take care my friend,
Deb

Topic: RE: Who has joined Curves?
I joined Curves in Atlanta in Jan. 2005 and I love it! I paid 75.00 enrollment (which I was told was half off) and I pay 29.00 per month debiting from my checking with a year contract. It is great.....but I have lost some enthusiasm as it is hard to find the time to go! I love the monthly report they give showing the inches and pounds lost. It is truly great motivation and tracking!! It is a good program going from no exercise and WLS. I mean, how could we go directly to a regular gym from no prior conditioning??
I think that you will really enjoy!

Jennifer,
If someone asks you how you've lost the weight, just tell them, "with a lot of hard work". We all know that's the truth. I think that just for this one day I might not worry about not eating and drinking together. It is really important to keep hydrated - especially if you're traveling. During the day of the wedding, just have a little of every course that looks like you can tolerate it and when you're full, push the food away and start drinking water. Keep your water intake up if you can.
If someone asks you outright if you've had surgery, just say, "you know, I've really been working hard to get this weight off. Here's the exercise that I've recently gotten into doing" - don't change the subject completely so that it seems strange, just veer the conversation to positive things that you have started since surgery to get the weight off.
You'll be fine! Have a great time at the wedding!! Enjoy the looks that you'll get and know if they're talking about you, it's with envy in their eyes!!

Topic: Here I go
Well My job ended Friday & I am officially UNEMPLOYED - oooo I'm not so fond of that word. It's been recommended that I take a couple of weeks off & just not worry about things - I am admitedly a workaholic - so that idea is difficult for me to wrap my mind around -
Could use tons of good thoughts - being at home it's easier for me to eat wrong & I tend to eat when I'm stressed or worried.
The job market is really tight & I'm a little concerned that there have been very few offerings in my area.
Some have said that this is an "opportunity" - hmmmm - another concept that is hard for me.
Well good thoughts - for everyone - sounds like you all are doing very well - so am I actually, my spirits are good & I will get through this - looking for the window though that has been opened now that the recent door has been closed
Oh - just in case any of you live in the Fresno/Madera California area - I'm looking for a job in Marketing, Advertising or Public Relations.
Topic: RE: Who has joined Curves?
We have a big gym here called LA Fitness...pool and everything. I looked into a Curves it was small and bleak. I think Curves is a step in the right direction from Obesity and no excercise. But, for me I need cardio work and stranght training. My best bet is a gym. And Curves is not to cheap after reading alot of posts. I guess Curves only really works if you get your heart rate up and alot just go there and never do that. For my busck a gym with all the right machines plus a lap pool is my best ber. I am going to join in June when I get back from Sc.........2 week vacation that is coming up real sson. Sandy in Tucson 340/240/150
