Topic: Has anyone experienced this?
This is the first time I am posting, I had my surgery November 14, I have lost 90 lbs as of today. I feel great!! a little tired. But there is one person in my life that wants to still hurt me and call me fat. I don't understand it? I have worked so hard not to be called that anymore and this person says it to me when we get in arguments. I act like it does not hurt me. but it really does. This person is my 18 year old daughter. I feel like if she does not respect me. I don't want her around. I don't know maybe I should not take it to heart. You think everything I have been through this would not bother me. Just wondered if anyone had this problem?
Topic: RE: 70 pounds gone!!!
Hiya Lori,
Congrats on 70 lbs gone forever along with all those other health problems!!
You know - about the mirror thing - I am the exact opposite. I was thin up until I quit smoking about 16 years ago after graduating college. For these past 16 years as I was getting bigger and bigger and bigger my big mirror images were always a shock to me for some reason. Now when I look in the mirror, I see the me that I used to see - the one I expected to see all along. I am thinking I am the oddball in this regard though.
God bless you and keep you,
~Andrea

Topic: RE: Realistic Goals....
Thanks for the info B. I found it very informative. As for my goal weight. My doctor has never given one or even discussed it with me for that matter. I'm going for my 6 month check up on the 25th and I'm going to ask him. I picked my goal weight to be 120 originally because it put me at the normal bmi according to the OH website. I now changed it to 118 a couple of weeks ago based on some other site by Bruce Underwood. To be quite honest, I feel perfectly healthy at the weight i'm at now. Better than i've felt in many yrs. But if more wanted to come off of me,,, who am I to complain
God Bless,

Topic: RE: Getting worried...am I behind?
Hi all, I'm currently down 72 lbs since surgery. I'd like to lose another 32lbs. This is the most i've ever lost in my life. So I'm extremely pleased with the results so far. I'm a little jealous of Andrea.j/k
We started around the same weight and are about the same height. She is doing amazing!!! She is my role model Well really it gives me hope that it can be done. The fact that i'm so very much healthier is a huge plus! I have a better quality of life now, I couldn't be happier!
Good luck and God bless to all of my WLS bros and sisters

Topic: RE: Realistic Goals....
Intially my surgeon's PA suggested a goal of 140 lbs!!! Then my PCP said that was too low for me! At 3 month check up my PA says he thinks a new goal of 135 would be good since I was losing quickly. This month my PCP says I'm good were I am at 175lbs!! At my 6 month Surgeon's check up I see a woman PA who is awesome she says I should set a goal between 145-154!! If I shoot for 153 I'm only 19 lbs away. If I am shooting for a NORMAL WEIGHT at a BMI of 25 I could weigh 155!!
Confused to say the least!! I guess I'll know my goal weight when I get there!!

HI Maria, It depends on your height as well. I'm only 5'0" and I weigh 150 so i'm in the overweight catergory. There is a BMI calculator on my profile or on the home page of OH. Good luck!

Topic: RE: Here I go
Hi Pamela,
I'm keeping my fingers crossed over here. Praying you'll find something real soon. But while you are waiting, I agree with your friends,, relax and enjoy the time you have off. Take a walk, plant some flowers, go to lunch w/ a friend. whatever you are in to. Do something that you've been dying to do and haven't had the time. You live in CA.. go to the beach for the day. Enjoy the new YOU!!
But I will pray you find something soon.
