Topic: -107 lbs, but feel like crap
Hello all fellow November-ites, I had my 6-month folo today with one of my doc's procedure coordinators. I'm down 107 pounds since surgery, 129 in total. So the weight loss is going well, though I've been on a plateau these last two weeks or so. But my biggest complaint is that I often feel like hell. I had an ulcer almost from the very beginning (one mo.after surgery****il May 6, when the scope showed it was gone. I had my stricture dilated that day, and unlike virtually every other patient, woke up in pain that culminated in an ER visit two days later. But that pain was just worse than the frequent and regular pain I have. I have always attributed it to the ulcer and stricture, but now that they're gone, I don't know what to think. THe pain is generally right where my new stomach is, sometimes down further across my abdomen. I frequently feel nauseated, and nearly every single time I eat, I fell ill. I eat very little, maybe 4 ounces at most, and virtually ALWAYS soft foods, such as yogurt, cottage cheese, soup, soft cubed cheese, crackers. Absolutely cannot tolerate bread or anything even remotely greasy, which is a good thing, I'm sure. But still. Is anyone else having this? It is very frustrating to constantly feel, at teh least, discomfort. I had an xray, bloodwork, and a CT scan after the ER visit, and my internals are fine. So why do I feel like this? Anyone else suffering, or wishing they hadn't had the surgery? Thanks for any adn all replies, In good health, Heather 328/221/160

I'm about on par with Pam - If it's good for me I have to or can only eat less - But currently my total intake per meal is about 8oz of food. I eat a variety at meals - protein & veggies with very little or no carbs. Though I still have a small handful of animal cookies each day - they feel really good on my stomach - and are a lot lower in calories than other choices - Since my stomach is so difficult sometimes I feel this is my one small way to appease it & I do make sure I get in all of the good stuff. 304/226/155

That is her, she is great. Dr. Lee is very caring. My husband just had surgery on 5/16 with Dr. Lee. It's a family thing I would have just been getting out of the hospital as you were going in. We are pretty close in surgery dates. Maybe I will see you sometime at the doctors office. Good luck! Teresa

Hi Teresa, By the way thanks for the compliments. I had my RNY-open on 11-9-04 with Dr Paul Lin at George Washington University Hospital. I think I have met Dr Lee at the OH Convention in DC last November. Is she the female? If so she was very nice. I also love Denise she is a life saver. I used to live in Mechanicsville, MD, Oakville Elem was near us. We lived for sometime on Cat Creek Road. Lizzi

Well, it depends. If it's protein, I can only eat about 3-4oz. If it's a carb, veggies, fruit, or bad carbs, usually about a cup. If it's good carbs, or like whole wheat bread, just like one slice. The more fiber or protein, the less I can eat. That's usually how I know whether it is good for me or not. If I can eat a lot of it, it's probably not good for me. Pam -92lbs. getting close to the century mark!

WOW - I cant believe I did it. It seems the last two weeks have been a bad time for a plateau. I have been stuck with this last lb to be normal but this morning - WOO HOO - it is GONE! I am now NORMAL! (well at least as far as my BMI is concerned - my firends and family would argue that nothing else about me is normal, lol) I am so psyched! 7 lbs to go to be in the 120's and 13 lbs to go to goal. These are the LAST TWO mini goals I had set for myself. WOO HOO God bless you and keep you, ~Andrea 223/136/123
