Topic: Intruder in the Room
Hi all, I am a December 2004 surgery person. I wanted to pop into this board and see how everyone is doing. I had sugery on the 6th, so I had it early in the month and was looking to see how I am stacking up against those who had it late in November. I started at 329 and have lost to 233. My goal for 6 months is 100 lbs but not sure if i am going to make that since my Doctors appointment is Friday. If you had surgery near the end of November, please drop me a line and let me know how you are doing.... Thanks for letting me come in... Jane

Topic: RE: Does anyone have a hernia???
Hi Mary Rose, Definately go to the Dr. A few years ago my hubby had his apendix removed and about 7 months later he had a mass also sticking out on his right side near the incision. When he layed down it went away. It turned out to be an incisional hernia. Because he waited so long because we didn't know what it was and he didn't tell me about for a while, when he finally did go to the dr it was so big that they had to put a huge mesh netting thingy in him. Which because it's so big they couldn't guarantee that it wouldn't happen again. Please go get it checked out! God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/147/118

Topic: SPANX Body Shapers?
Hi Everyone There was a post a while back about Spanx body shapers and someone had given a promotion code that can be used when ordering giving a discount. Does anyone remember the post or the promotion code? Or can anyone tell me if there is a way to search past posts. Thanks all. Susan 11/24/04 378/263/190

Topic: Does anyone have a hernia???
Hi, I become concerned with a ball like mass that keeps poking out on the right side of my incission. I haven't contacted my surgeon yet because I wanted to hear from someone who's had an incissional hernia. It doesn't stick out all the time just every once in a while. I want to know it I should restrict my activity until I see my surgeon. Please advise. Mary Rose

Hi Michelle, I must say that I think My daily regimen is closest to Angels....I really don't count anything per say...with 2 kids and a busy job I would find that WAY to difficult.... I do watch my carbs, eat high protien. NO sugars at all.....I also am to afraud of the dumping. I also have a difficult time with breads and pastas so I have a very liitle on a rare occasion. The sugar alcohol also makes me very gassy and crampy if I eat too much. So for me I think I've done well.....What I do "works" for me... I also have a hard time eating 3 meals a day..I do much better eating 4-5 small mini meals I like to call them. Best wishes and Good luck!!! Karry 311/185/167 goal

I LOVE popcorn and fruit.....If I need the "salty" snack, popcorn does it for me and then if I need the "sweet" snack I go for fruit or a SF pudding/jello..... As always make sure you get tha****er in.....that will help with the snacking. Good Luck and best wishes!! Karry 311/185/167 goal

String Cheese is a good snack, SF Jello, SF FF pudding, I also love pistachios jus****ch not to eat the whole bag. I did that. It can be very fattening. Good protein but also fattening. Put some in individual snack sized bags. LF popcorn, low carb peanut butter on crackers, raw veggies, or fruit. God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/148/118

First I want say to B that was just beautifully written. I loved it. I agreed with you completely. Second, I don't what the correct numbers are. Not for me or anyone else for that matter. I don't count carbs, calories, fats or sugars. I try to maintain a low carb, low fat diet. I don't eat sugar at all. The only reason I watch the sugar alcohols is because too much make me sick. So I don't eat much of any sweets. Food high in fats also make me sick so I try not to eat greasy, fatty foods. I don't drink carbonated beverages, I eat very little bread and when I do I try to make it whole wheat,,but again, very little. I eat only whole wheat pasta and not much of that either. I don't drink any where as much water as I should but that has always been a problem for me, my whole life. I don't necessarily count the carbs at the end of the day I try to eat more protein items and less carbs. If I had to start counting everything I my as well stayed at Weigh****chers which although is a very healthy diet plan it didn't work for me.I take my vitamins everyday. I try to get to the gym 3 or 4 times a week. I try to do things differently such as parking further away so I get more walking in. Everything is about choices we make. I try to make better ones. I wish you all the success in the world. But B said it perfectly, this is your life now, enjoy it. Oh by the way, I haven't lost as much as some, but I've lost 74 lbs since surgery. I haven't felt this healthy in 20 yrs. I'm loving life and get around so much better. I can breathe again which is always a plus. God Bless, ~Angel 255/222/148/118
