I had open RNY on 11/30/2004.My co-morbids were type 2 diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure,PCOS.I was on 7 different types of meds.Today,I am MED FREE!!!!This is one main reason for my surgery!I've lost 70+ pounds. My hbA1C test (on 2 meds)was 7.4 prior to surgery. My may 17th hbA1c (on 0 meds) was 5.9 !!!My triglicerides(on 3 meds) was 875 prior to surgery. They are now(no meds) is 182.(Normal is 25 to 199).My cholesterol prior to surgery =253 (3 meds), now 161(no meds).Normal is (100-239) You see what this surgery has done for me? !!!!! I so strongly encourage you to do this surgery for your own good.I would do this again(in a heartbeat, without hesitation). I take a multivitamin twice daily, instead of 7 different meds.I've lost 70+ pounds.I feel super.I have lots more energy.I wore a tight womens size 26 on the day of surgery.I'm now in a comfortable size womens 14.(WOW!)And I'm still losing.I've got about 50 more pounds to go. Please feel free to write me.My PCP wants to have the surgery for herself, after seeing my lab results(she's blown away!!!) Paula Feel free to write me(I love to encourage people, especially what it's done for me!!)

Topic: RE: Severe joint pain Post - op???
I have had some back problem and do have some problems in my joints. I have osteoarthritis, but what I wanted to say is this...A friend from church ask me if I was using products with aspertame..and I was. Look it up on the web. There are many side effects from using aspertame. My husband and I were drinking alot of the flavored drinks with nutrasweet. Nutrasweet is 100% asapertame. Might not be it...just a thought to concider. Hang In There! Rhonda

Hi. I am new on the board and was asking myself why am I not loosing? Your comments have helped. I was loosing 4-5 pds a week and then it just seemed to stop. I've been "holding" for about 4 weeks. I do have a problem with carbs, although I try to eat low-carb stuff. I also eat the lunch meat, saugage and things that may be too high in sodium. I do need support and encouragement. I have osteoarthritis and it is sometimes hard to exercise. I haven't much. I have lost 96 pds at last weigh in. Thanks, Rhonda

I also have gained right before my period....I notice that my weight loss has slowed down but my clothes are still getting loser on me....People I see monthly will tell me I look like I've lost 10-15 pds in a month when it may be onlt 5-7 pds. but your body is still readjusting to your loss. Sounds to me like your doing great....Keep up the great job!!! Karry 311/183/167 goal

I ALWAYS gain 1 lb during my cycle!! You are doing fantastic, so don't worry about it!! I do notice that I will not lose at all if I eat anything "salty" like even deli ham, turkey, chicken, etc....Or hotdogs, sausage, anything with alot of sodium, and it seems to put me into a stall!! KEEP YOUR CHIN UP!! You are doing wonderfully!!! Teresa

Congratulations! These lines of obesity don't mean squat to anyone except those of us who have a weight problem. I to weigh less now than I did 20 yrs ago, it feels so good don't it? I cherished the moment I went from Morbidly Obese to just Severely Obese... Now I'm looking for that next lil milestone from Severely Obese to just Obese... on 6/10 of a bmi point away! h & p's
