Topic: RE: Anyone had plastic surgery yet?
2-14-06 I had an extended muscle repair abdominoplasti with an inverted 'T' incision,( hip to hip incision and 'between breast to pubic area incision'). I had maintained my weight of 161 for 5 months.(Height 5'7") 8 pounds of skin was removed. (present weight 148 and no more to loose.) I had documented doctor's notes for the rashes & pictures, and MRI results showing the low back problems. The insurance covered the abdominoplasti and 1 appeal and I had to pay for the upper abdominal work, $5000. I do not regret this surgery but at 9 weeks post op still have swelling and daily pain--or I should say discomfort. The recovery from this surgery was excrutiatingly painful. I had no idea the muscle repair would hurt so bad. At this time it just feels like I've done 300 sit ups and my abdomen is very sore. But I am pleased with the results.

Topic: RE: 17 months... do you really remember??
yes, I remember, but I am still dissappointed. I am no where close to goal. I still have 45# to go and this is my goal not recommended BMI. I do all the right things and here I sit at 202-206. Oh well I do feel great and the exercise really helps. I would like to have a tummy tuck in august I should feel better after that. I am so happy for all of you "at goal" folks. Topic: before and after
2 years ago I was so depressed and just started to give up hope of ever being thin. Then one day I decided to research weight loss surgery, I found the procedure I wanted and talked to my husband. He was all for it so I decided to not deal with the insurance and just self pay. 1 1/2 years later I am happy to report I am 70# lighter with only 20 more to go.
A whole new world opened up for me. I'm slowing starting to get rid of my fat clothes and buying way smaller pants, shirts, and even panties.

Topic: RE: Anyone drinking Soda Yet ?
I haven't eaten fast food or drank a soda since before my surgery. That makes it so easy to pass it up. I believe that these two things are the bane of our society and are responsible for making a lot of people overweight in this country. Also, I don't want to forget what it was like before surgery. It's so easy to get complacent and forget what got us here. So I'm hoping you all don't get mad at me for telling you my opinion and it's only my opinion. All I know is that I"m down 145 pounds and in a size 8. I never want to get back the size 22's I was wearing and I will do whatever it takes to not feel the way I used to.

Hi B,
You are always so inspiring. I love it when you post. I already did the whole body in one pant leg pic the day after Christmas. It is on my page.
As for running. I love to run. I find myself running to my car all the time. Just simply because I can now.
Eating out.. I remember the same as you.. appetizer, main course, dessert. It amazes me that I ate all of that in one sitting.
Life is great and I'm glad we are all in it and feeling healthy! I was in a fashion show two weeks ago. I will post pics of me as soon as I get them downloaded. I had such a blast. It was called the "New Me" fashion show. The support group I go to sponsored it. There were about 14 of us girls. We got to dress in casual wear, career wear, dressy and formal. I felt like a princess going to my prom(which I never got to do).
Anyway.. God bless you all and have a great day. Keep on fighting the fight.

Topic: survey help
Hi-My name is Martha Dunn. I am completing my doctoral degree at Antioch New England Graduate School. My dissertation research project explores post bariatric surgery behavior, struggles and needs. If you have 10-15 minutes to complete the survey, it would be a big help to me. Also, if you have friends who've also had the surgery and could forward this message to them, that would be great. More in-depth details are on the link that follows and thank you in advance.

Wow B you look great!!
I love the pic!! Life has surely changeD. I think I do forget what I use to look like. I talked to a few people who think it's because I had been thin before...but I'm not so sure. Last Month I had my PS and yesterday I finally looked at my before pics...before WLS and before PS ....Wow that was really good for me to do!! An eye opener. Your post is a perfect reminder for us to appreciate what we have now! My husband said to me last weekend that my body looks like it did when I met him 2 kids and 13 years ago!
Running ...does a running a few feet count? Now I can chase my little 3 year old down!!! I do watch other MO people. yesterday at a sporting event I was watching a MO women trying to catch her 3 yr old. She would shout at him from afar to STOP! My fear when I was MO that my then 2 yr old would run into danger and I wouldn't be fast enough to grab him and pull him back! I can run past him now ...........life is good!!
Take Care!!!!!!!!
Happy Summer!
